What's the story?

The Fatorda Stadium in Goa had a lot to cheer about as Spaniard Ferran Corominas scored a hat-trick in a span of just seven minutes to knock the wind out of the sails of the Kerala Blasters and give his side three important points on Saturday.

The hat-trick is the fastest scored in ISL history so far and also makes Coro, as he is known popularly, the first person in the league's history to record back-to-back hat-tricks, with him having scored three against Bengaluru FC in his side's previous match.

In case you didn't know

Coro was signed up by FC Goa for his debut season in the Indian Super League after having played for many years in the La Liga.

The heart of the Matter

The Blasters' woes started right before the fifth minute of the game with star striker Dimitar Berbatov picking up an injury but a goal from Mark Sifneos' goal in the seventh minute applied some pressure on Goa.

However, two goals from Manuel Lanzarote and one from Blasters' Jackichand Singh meant the teams went into half-time with the score reading 2-2. However, a bigger story was about to unfold with the antagonist for the Blasters played by Ferran Corominas.

Only three minutes into the second half, the Spaniard made utmost use of a clear ball from Amhed Jahouh to send it past Kerala keeper Rachubka to bring the lead back to Goa. Only two minutes later, he chipped the ball over the Blasters' keeper after being played through.

As if two goals weren't enough, first-half hero Lanzarote's cross from the right was collected by Coro with ease and deposited into the net, triggering wild celebrations on the field as he completed his second-hattrick in as many games.

What's next?

FC Goa will travel to the national capital for their next game and with the Dynamos unable to find their bearings yet, another goal fest could be on the cards.

Author's Take

WIth the experience Coro has under his belt, it comes as no surprise that the Spaniard has enjoyed a memorable season thus far and has taken FC Goa to the top spot in the points table. If his form is anything to go by, FC Goa could well go on to clinch the spoils in the end!
