The Indian Super League has, over the years, seen myriad foreign players. Among them have been legendary goal getters like Alessandro Del Piero, David Trezeguet and Diego Forlan. This season as well, ISL clubs have roped in quite a few famous names, particularly Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov, legends of the Premier League and one-time teammates at Tottenham Hotspur.

Keane and Berbatov's career has gone separate ways since their Tottenham days ended - they now find themselves at ATK and Kerala Blasters respectively - but their reputations as goal scorers par excellence still precede them, hence their pricey moves to India this summer.

Alongside Berbatov and Keane, a few other strikers of international repute have also been signed by an assortment of ISL clubs. Ahead of the international break that started today all across the world, we take a look at five of the top international goal scorers that have been signed by ISL clubs this summer (goalscorers may not be strikers only).

#5 Gabriel Chichero - 4 goals in 70 matches for Venezuela

Chichero is Delhi Dynamos' big statement signing for the 2017-18 ISL. The Venezuelan is a regular for La Vinotinto having made 70 appearances for the national team. Chichero has played around the world from Italy, Argentina, USA, France, Switzerland, Uruguay and now is up for his next challenge in India.

Chichero, a centre back, might not have been fancied to feature here but Sunil Chhetri would definitely have made this list if it wasn't exclusive to foreign signings only.

#4 Iain Hume - 6 goals in 43 matches for Canada

The Canadian international made his national team bow in 2003 but has only been called up sporadically since. Hume has an ISL record to shame his 14-year international record. In three ISL campaigns, Hume has scored 23 goals, while he has managed a paltry six in a similar number of matches for Canada.

Hume is one of the top strikers in the ISL, hence his name in this list comes as no surprise. His transition from English football to Indian football is an example set by and legacy of Hume.

#3 Kervens Belfort - 16 goals in 40 appearances for Haiti

Belfort often has a wide starting position on the pitch, which makes him more of a winger than a centre forward. But the Haitian is a phenomenal goalscorer on the international stage. 16 strikes in 40 internationals for Les Grenadiers has made him a regular in the national team. He impressed us all with his skill and power in ISL 2016, and he'll be back again next season.

The 25-year-old will be one to watch this season; fresh from a stint at the higher level of European football, Belfort will look to ring the alarm bells in opposition defences in 2017-18.

#2 Dimitar Berbatov - 48 goals in 73 appearances for Bulgaria

Dimitar Berbatov is the most marquee signing yet

Seven-time Bulgarian Footballer of the Year Dimitar Berbatov has joined Kerala Blasters this summer, and the former Manchester United hitman will look to remind everyone of how lethal he was during his prime. Berbatov's international record is among the best; a haul of 48 goals in 73 matches is a Bulgarian all-timer.

The 36-year-old hasn't played competitive football for a year now after leaving Greek outfit PAOK but will be one to watch next season in the ISL.

#1 Robbie Keane - 68 goals in 146 appearances for the Republic of Ireland

Keane has scored goals everywhere he has gone

Keane's legacy is his international goals. The Irish great once held the record of the highest active goal scorer in international football before his retirement last year. His 68 goals in 146 matches for the Republic of Ireland is a record not many would break, and it is his pedigree in front of goal that has kept all ATK fans excited for the 2017-18 ISL.

The 37-year-old will look to stamp his mark in Indian football as well, like he has done in countless other places, from Coventry to Milan and London to Los Angeles. Kolkata is his next stop, scoring goals his next job.
