Indian Super League franchise Mumbai City confirmed the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg.

The ex-Swedish international will be their marquee player for the inaugural ISL season.

The 37-year-old was part of the famous Arsenal ‘Invincibles’ side that went an entire season unbeaten in 2003-04. He has won the Premier League twice and the FA Cup three times with Arsenal. He was also voted the Swedish Player of the Year twice in 2002 and 2006, apart from being selected in the Premier League Overseas Team of the Decade once.

He joins other marquee signings in the ISL such as Luis Garcia (Atletico de Kolkata), David James (Kerala Blasters), Joan Capdevila (NorthEast United), David Trezeguet (FC Pune City) and Alessandro Del Piero (Delhi Dynamos).

He had earlier tweeted that he would be joining the ISL in July.
