The new 2013-14 EPL fantasy football league is here

The English Premier League is back for the 2013-14 season, with the action set to kick off this weekend.

The Sportskeeda team is ready to buckle up and prepare for the long-winding journey ahead filled with plenty of ups and downs, all the while aiming to provide the readers the best in terms of match coverage, interviews, player profiles and the like.

This year though, there is a little something special reserved for all you Premier league aficionados out there!

Put on a suit or some training tracks, for Sportskeeda is giving you the chance to become a manager in a brand new Football Fantasy League.

Fantasy leagues are a dime a dozen, but fear not; Sportskeeda’s managerial game promises to deliver a truly fulfilling experience to its fans.

Registering a team

To get started all you need to do is register your team by selecting a squad of 15 players (2 Goal Keepers, 5 Defenders, 5 Midfielders, 3 Forwards). There is a transfer budget of £120 million available for you to put together your star-spangled team. You then need to choose your starting 11 for each Match Week including the subs. Set the weekly salary for each of your players (you can of course increase or decrease this during the course of the season), and you are good to go!

Points Scoring

A Player scores points according to the number of minutes he plays in the actual game. The more minutes he plays, the more points he scores for the team. Every minute played will fetch the team ’0.02′ points. Apart from that, a player will score points for a whole host of other things including goals scored, assists, clean sheets, etc.

Also, if a player happens to be the Man of the Match in a game, he will earn 3 extra points for it.

General Rules

One free transfer is allowed per week, after which you will have to sacrifice 3 points for each transfer. You can select up to three auto-subs for each of the following positions: Defence, Midfield, Forward. That option does not exist for the goalkeeper though. All changes can be made up to 5 minutes before the start of the Match Week.

Auto Subs

You can designate one auto-sub per position. If a player in your starting 11 does not play, he will be automatically substituted with the player that you have chosen as a substitute for that position.

Salary System

The most unique feature about this game is the Salary Feature, which serves to further enhance the fantasy football experience. Every player in a team has a Points Multiplier. This determines how much that player’s points are going to be multiplied by, once the Match Week is over.

This Points Multiplier can be increased or decreased, depending on the salary you are paying your player. You get a weekly salary budget of £2M. Each of the players falls into either a Gold/Silver/Bronze salary package.

Create your own leagues

You would by default be part of the Global League; in addition, you can choose to play in other smaller Private leagues as well as create your own league for your select group of friends to play in. Club based leagues as well as a War of Private Leagues are also available.

Pay to Play

Another feature that is set to create quite a flutter is the paid league system. Here, you can join a certain league for an entry fee and also stand a chance to win some cash, based on how your team performs. There are also set to be new tournaments and mini-games that you can play in.

Prizes

No game would be complete if there weren’t some fantastic prizes to be won in the process, and the Sportskeeda Football Fantasy promises weekly, monthly as well as season long awards.

The overall winner of the entire tournament will receive a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 and the ‘Sportskeeda Manager of the Year’ Trophy.

The runner-up will receive a Nokia Lumia 520, while there are also consolation prizes for the other managers in the overall top 5.

Monthly winners will each receive a gift voucher worth Rs. 1000/- from the Sportskeeda Store as well as a ‘Manager of the Month’ trophy. Weekly winners will each receive a gift voucher worth Rs. 500/- from the Sportskeeda Store and a ‘Manager of the Week’ trophy.

So if you think you can give the likes of Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger a run for their money in putting out a winning 11, this is just the game for you. The added novel features in the game will truly give you the feeling of being THE BOSS of your football club.
