IndyCar has grown immensely in terms of popularity in the last few years. Amid the various factors, one is the drivers who take part in the sport after or while competing in various other racing categories.

NASCAR's Kyle Larson (2021 Cup series Champion) has competed in the well-known IndyCar race, the Indy 500, in 2024 and 2025. He managed a P18 finish in the 2024 edition of the 200-lap race driving for Arrow McLaren (partnership with Hendrick Motorsport), whereas, in 2025, he crashed out and could not finish the race.

In line with the drivers who have raced in IndyCar from other racing categories, let's look at the top three NASCAR drivers, who could prove their mettle in the sport if they ever decide to compete in it.

The first name on the list is #20 Toyota Camry driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, Christopher Bell. The 30-year-old has been competing at the top level of stock car racing (NASCAR) since 2013. He started with the Craftsman Truck Series in 2015 but has done most of his racing in the Cup Series since 2021 (193 outings).

In line with this, NASCAR drivers also race around superspeedways (ovals), which is similar to how IndyCar drivers race during a normal season.

Christopher Bell has competed in 20 oval races and has so far managed six top-10 finishes (per driveraverages.com). Keeping this in view and Bell's wealth of experience in stock car racing, he could very well do well in IndyCar.

What makes Bell a great contender is also his ability to dominate on dirt tracks, similar to his fellow NASCAR driver, Kyle Larson. His adaptability to switch and adjust to different track settings is an added advantage for him, should he choose to race in IndyCar.

#2 Kyle Busch

The second name on the list is NASCAR royalty Kyle Busch. He is the winningest NASCAR driver of all time across all three series. He won the 2009 Xfinity Series and is also a two-time champion in the Cup Series (2015 and 2019). The Richard Childress Racing driver is already 40 years old. However, that does not mean he won't fare well in IndyCar.

Age has not stopped many other IndyCar stars. Some prime examples are Team Penske's Will Power (44) and Chip Ganassi Racing's Scott Dixon (44). Kyle Busch has an impressive track record at superspeedways.

The 40-year-old has been pushing stock cars around superspeedways since 2008 and has amassed 80 outings. Moreover, during the same period, he has over 20 top-ten finishes. The veteran NASCAR driver also revealed recently that he was close to attempting the 'Double' a couple of times.

The final name in the list is #12 Ford driver for Team Penske, Ryan Blaney. The 31-year-old has been competing in the Cup series since 2014 and has started over 350 races. He has 14 wins, 156 top tens, and 11 pole positions in that time.

When it comes to his Superspeedway stats, he has a stellar record. In only 42 appearances, he has already managed 16 top-ten finishes. Moreover, he has also secured four victories.

These are way more impressive compared to Kyle Busch and even Kyle Larson. Blaney is a fierce competitor and an insanely talented race car driver. He also has the benefit of driving for Roger Penske's NASCAR team, which is one of the strongest teams in IndyCar as well.

NASCAR drivers are tough racers who are known to go all-in while driving on the racetrack. Christopher Bell, Kyle Busch, and Ryan Blaney are top drivers in the world of NASCAR, and considering how Kyle Larson has performed over the last two years, these drivers can also do well.
