Nolan Siegel currently competes in the NTT IndyCar Series, driving the No. 6 Chevrolet for Arrow McLaren. As he nears his first anniversary in the American premium open-wheel racing championship, Siegel opened up about how familiarity will fuel his confidence.
In 2024, he was brought in as a replacement for Theo Pourchaire, only a month after the latter had signed with Arrow McLaren. When asked if he feels a different comfort level as his first anniversary approaches, Siegel answered in the affirmative.
"Yes, definitely for me, you know, this is going to be the first weekend that I did last year in IndyCar, it's going to be so much easier, you know, going to a place like Detroit where everyone else has raced there in the IndyCar, I haven't, you get two practice sessions to figure it out, it's just hard, and it's hard especially when the goal is to compete with the people that you're racing against in IndyCar, like the series is so competitive that starting from a deficit is it, it just makes the whole weekend so so difficult so coming back to all of these tracks that I've been to before, it's just going to be a head start on the weekend," said Siegel (via Speed Freaks Podcast on YouTube, 3:52 onwards)
Nolan Siegel is currently 21st in the IndyCar championship standings, with a total of 96 points. His best finish came at the Children's of Alabama Indy Grand Prix, where he finished 9th, marking his first top-10 finish of the season.
Theo Pourchaire gets honest about his Arrow McLaren axing in favor of Nolan Siegel

Theo Pourchaire has reflected on the abrupt and unexpected end to his time with Arrow McLaren during the 2024 NTT IndyCar Series season.
The French driver, who was initially brought in as an injury substitute for David Malukas, began his stint with the team at the Grand Prix of Long Beach, delivering a solid performance with an 11th-place finish in his debut. Impressed by his early results, Arrow McLaren offered Pourchaire a full-time contract in May. However, just one month later, the team made the surprising decision to replace him with rising Indy NXT star Nolan Siegel.
Pourchaire had left a full-time seat in Japan’s competitive Super Formula series with Team Impul to seize the opportunity in IndyCar. As such, the sudden ousting left him without an active race seat, aside from his reserve driver role with the Sauber Formula 1 team. Notably, Arrow McLaren did recall him for a single appearance at the Honda Indy Toronto after Alexander Rossi was sidelined due to a thumb injury.
Speaking to The Race, Pourchaire candidly described the emotional and professional toll of the decision.
"Last year, when I was not racing anymore after my six IndyCar races, I had nothing," Pourchaire admitted. "And as a racing driver, it's really tough. When you're every year fighting at the top of a championship, trying to win races, and then you suddenly have nothing anymore, it's quite tough. So, I don't want to be in this position again," he added
Arrow McLaren team principal Tony Kanaan acknowledged at the time that Pourchaire had not underperformed, but indicated that the team was unwilling to pass up the chance to sign a promising young talent like Nolan Siegel.
