Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal recently shared his feelings about his 300th start in IndyCar. He also highlighted measuring success in many different ways.
The 36-year-old drives the #15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing team car powered by Honda. On June 15 at the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, the American driver will be participating in his 300th IndyCar race. In light of this, the driver spoke about his streak of consecutive starts and how he hasn't missed a race since July 2010.
While in an interview with Eric Smith, an IndyCar staff reporter, Rahal said,
"Success is measured in many different ways, and when you look at wins, maybe it's not enough, but I've been fortunate to have a long career here. But hopefully there's still a ways to go.
He further added, saying:
“Three hundred races, I think what I'm most fortunate about is to have been able to stay, knock on wood, pretty healthy through those times, and hopefully that will continue, as well.”
With this start, Rahal will join fellow drivers Scott Dixon, who will be starting his 410th race, Mario Andretti, Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan and many more who have all completed the triple century race starts mark. Notably, Graham Rahal has been in the sport since 2008 and has six wins to his name.
As for his 2025 season, it is off to a decent start, as at the maiden race of the season at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg held on March 2, he qualified in 21st place and finished 12th. During the race at the Sonsio Grand Prix held on May 10, he had qualified in 2nd place but finished in 6th place, making it one of his highest qualifying and finish this season.
When Graham Rahal spoke about the 'ever- changing landscape' of contract negotiations at IndyCar
Graham Rahal once spoke about driver contracts and negotiations. Considering the American driver has been in the sport since 2008, he has had his fair share of contract negotiations over the years.
While in conversation with Eric Smith on the IndyCar Segment "Five Questions With...," Rahal spoke about the 'ever-changing landscape' of drivers' contract negotiations. He said,
"It’s an ever-changing environment for sure. When I was young and dumb, you don't even really think about a lot of this stuff, frankly. But yeah, where we are today is certainly for me at least is an environment that you know, you've got to be grateful to have an opportunity to work and be grateful to have an opportunity to continue your career," Rahal said (via IndyCar).
Graham Rahal signed his multi-year contract extenstion deal with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in 2023.
