Christian Lundgaard has proved himself as one of the standout performers in the ongoing IndyCar season. After the first seven races, he has already amassed three top-five and six top-ten finishes.

In line with the upcoming World Wide Technology Raceway event, Lundgaard expressed excitement about racing on a short oval for the first time in an Arrow McLaren Chevrolet.

"I'm excited to go short oval racing for the first time in an Arrow McLaren Chevrolet. This team has been strong at short ovals in the past, so I'm looking forward to running with that package this weekend. We're still in the fight for the championship, so time to get back out there and keep stacking up good results." Lundgaard said [via Arrow McLaren's official website].

The 2025 Detroit Grand Prix was an extremely chaotic race. Quite a few drivers found themselves in the barriers during the three-day weekend.

Christian Lundgaard started the 100-lap Grand Prix from fourth place on the grid, but at the end of the event, he was only able to cross the chequered flag in a disappointing eighth position.

In line with this, he came up with an in-depth explanation via the post-race interviews.

"I'm glad to finally finish the race. I woke up this morning feeling really good and confident because I knew we had a good car. It just didn't seem to translate in the race from any of our other sessions. It was very frustrating from that aspect. At the end of the day, we got some good points with Pato in seventh and me in eighth," Lundgaard said via Arrow McLaren.

Lundgaard has been competing in America's highest class of open-wheel racing since 2021. He has so far managed over 50 race starts and has put on board a solitary Grand Prix win, six podium finishes, and two pole positions.

In the 2024 IndyCar season, the 23-year-old was able to amass 312 points, which proved good enough for a P11 finish. Taking into consideration that he is eyeing the championship this year, Lundgaard has a tall order in front of him to move up in the standings.

As things stand, Christian Lundgaard is 106 points behind the championship leader, Alex Palou. Moreover, he has also got Pato O'Ward (P2) and Kyle Kirkwood (P3) between him in Palou.
