Danica Patrick once remained steadfast in her refusal to change her rules about speaking about her personal life, even when quizzed about her divorce. The 43-year-old racer, in 2012, announced her split from Paul Hospenthal, whom she had been married to for seven years.
The former IndyCar star had consistently maintained strict boundaries regarding her personal life and upheld this standard when asked about the circumstances that led to the end of her marriage. When questioned about the situation surrounding her then-marriage during an interview with Amy Nelson in November 2012, Patrick chose not to go into detail about the events that led up to their split.
Responding to the question posed to her—as seen in a video posted on YouTube by the journalist—she said:
“So obviously it's tough, but you know, my personal life is something that I have always kept really personal, and you know, I am not going to lay that out any differently. But of course, it's a tough time. So, thanks for your concern. And thanks for asking.” (00:29 to 00:43)
Danica Patrick’s divorce from Paul Hospenthal was eventually finalized in April 2013, with both parties addressing their relationship as irretrievably broken. Following the split, the former Andretti Global driver went on to date fellow NASCAR racing driver Richard Lynn Stenhouse Jr. between 2013 and 2017. The Wisconsin native would subsequently date former American football quarterback Aaron Rodgers between 2018 and 2020.
Danica Patrick opens up about her relationship status in a recent interview
Danica Patrick recently set the record straight about her relationship status in an interview. The former NASCAR driver opened up about her relationship status barely a month after she shared a few details about her past relationship with Aaron Rodgers.
The one-time IndyCar race winner, who made an appearance on the Believe in Good podcast, was quizzed by host Haley Dillon about whether she was single at the moment. Responding, Danica Patrick said:
“Yeah.”
When asked further about individuals sliding into her DMs, she replied:
“That makes me screwed—so screwed. Not literally either,” she said.
The former IndyCar race winner has not been publicly linked with anyone since 2022, but she specifically touched on her relationship with former NFL star Rodgers, which ended in 2020. Danica Patrick, recently speaking on The Sage Steele Show, described how dating the former quarterback took a toll on her.
“It wore me down to nothing. You know, when you live with somebody and it’s, like, your whole life. It’s your dentist appointment, it’s your hairdo, it’s your clothes, it’s your mailing address. It’s, like, everything,” she stated.
After ending her relationship with the football star, Patrick reportedly went on to date American businessman Carter Comstock in 2021.
