Kyle Kirkwood took the victory at the IndyCar race at the World Wide Technology Raceway in what was an eventful 260 laps of the Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Pole sitter Will Power retired from the race in the first quarter, followed by DNFs for the other two Penske drivers.
Conor Daly and Pato O'Ward fought for the lead of the race for 40-odd laps before the final pitstop, and caution gave advantage to Kirkwood. The Andretti Global driver’s victory at WWTR means that he remains the only other driver, except for Alex Palou, to have a victory to his name so far this season.
Let's have a detailed look at the biggest winners and losers from the 2025 IndyCar Bommarito Automotive Group 500.
Winners from the IndyCar Bommarito Automotive Group 500
#1 Kyle Kirkwood
Kyle Kirkwood started the race in P10 and gradually made his way up the grid before he approached the lead pack. The Andretti Global driver effectively ran with the lead pack for the entirety of the race before making crucial moves after the final restart, which gave him the effective race lead.

Despite having to make passes on the drivers on the alternate strategy in the final laps, Kirkwood kept his cool, inherited the lead with seven laps to go, fended off Pato O'Ward, and won the race.
#2 Christian Rasmussen
The ECR driver started the race in P25 towards the back of the grid. However, through excellent pit strategy, timely cautions, and good race pace, Christian Rasmussen was able to finish the race on the podium. It was the Danish driver's first podium in the IndyCar series, and his best result to date.
#3 Conor Daly
Conor Daly started the race in P15 and was quick to make the moves, and was up into the Top 5 within the first quarter of the race. After Josef Newgarden's crash, Pato O'Ward and Daly ran 1-2 and fought for the lead. The JHR driver inherited the lead on Lap 154.
However, a slower penultimate pitstop and troublesome final stint meant that Conor Daly finished the race in P6.
#4 Santino Ferrucci
The AJ Foyt Racing driver has found pace in the #14 Chevrolet in the last couple of races, finishing inside the Top 5, including the podium at Detroit. Ferrucci repeated his heroics at the WWTR, where he started the race in P19 but was again able to push the AJ Foyt Racing car into the Top 5
Losers from the IndyCar Bommarito Automotive Group 500
#1 David Malukas
David Malukas qualified P4 and was able to get into the lead of the race before losing it in the pitstop that followed Josef Newgarden's crash. Malukas led the most laps of any driver at WWTR at 67, but made a mistake late in the race where he got wide and hit the barrier. Although Malukas was able to continue racing, he lost multiple positions and finished P12 in a car that had the pace to win the race.
#2 Alex Palou
After winning the 2025 Indy 500 and his stellar record since the start of the season, a lot was expected from the CGR driver coming into the IndyCar Bommarito Automotive Group 500. Unfortunately, it was an anonymous race for the championship leader who started P9 and only finished P8.
#3 Colton Herta
While Colton Herta's teammate, Kyle Kirkwood, won the race by maintaining pace and keeping with the race leaders, the Cadillac F1 prospect was just not able to keep up. The Andretti Global IndyCar driver started the race in P8 and finished in P17.
#4 Team Penske
A horrible IndyCar weekend for Team Penske, who looked the strongest team going into the race. All three Penske drivers qualified inside the top five and had cars worthy of winning the race. Josef Newgarden has a stellar record around WWTR, with four wins in the last six races.
Will Power, who started on pole position, suffered a tire failure early in the race and hit the barrier, which ended his race. Newgarden started P5, but got into the race's lead after the first quarter. The #2 Penske had blistering pace, but was collected by the lapped car of Louis Foster, who hit the outside barrier, and then rolled towards the inside wall, crashing with Newgarden, who ended up upside down.
Scott McLaughlin was the sole remaining Team Penske driver who made it to the final quarter of the race, but eventually retired on Lap 216 after a mechanical issue.
