Pune, Jan 12: Delhi judokas once again basked in glory grabbing three gold medals out of the eight on the cards on Saturday in the Khelo India Youth Games 2019. Delhi’s tally of gold from Judo is now nine.

On the penultimate day of the judo competition, Uttar Pradesh picked up two gold while Haryana, Gujarat, and Rajasthan also added themselves on the Gold list.

Delhi won one of their Gold in the Under-21 boys' section and their girls added two. In the boys' section, Shubham (Below-55kgs) topped, while Mahima Tokas (Below-48kgs) and Pinky Balhara (Below-52Kgs) struck the yellow metal in the girls.

Rajasthan’s moment of glory came when Hemang Jaiswal dashed the hopes of Maharashtra’s Nishant Gurav in the Below-73kgs category.

Kolhapur’s Nishant was the only high point of Maharashtra’s campaign for the day, apart from a bronze medal. In claiming the silver, the Karamveer Hire Mahavidyalaya student achieved a career-best. Earlier, Nishant’s best was a bronze as a seventh grader in the School Nationals and last year’s Junior Nationals at Rewa, Madhya Pradesh.

It was heartwarming to see as many as 15 states get to the podium showing the spread of the sport.

Kerala also picked two silver, through Rakhul Gopi (Below-55kgs) and Navneeth OS (Below-60kgs) besides one bronze from Vijitha N (Below-44kgs).
