Rio de Janeiro, Sep 1 (IANS): Olympic judo champion Teddy Riner claimed his fifth world title in the 100-kg category at the World Championships here.

The 24-year-old Frenchman continued his three-year unbeaten run by overcoming Brazil’s Rafael Silva by ippon in the final Saturday. The triumph was Riner’s sixth world title overall and comes just over a year after he won gold at the London Olympics. Tunisia’s Faicel Jaballah and Andreas Toelzer of Germany clinched bronze, reports Xinhua.

Cuba’s Idalys Ortiz won the over 78-kg women’s division by defeating Brazil’s Maria Suelen Altheman. Bronze went to Jung Eun Lee of South Korea and Japan’s Megumi Tachimoto.
