The Nepal Karate Team received a hero’s welcome

Nepal National wado-ryu team came back home from Sri Lanka with seven golds, two silvers and one bronze medals by competing in the First Wado-ryu International Open Karate Championship which was held in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka from 16 to 17 November 2013.

Nine male and one female player from Nepal participated in the championship.

Below are the Gold Medal winners for Nepal in the championship.

  • Simon Khatri: men´s open weight category
  • Tej Bahadur Gurung: 60 kg
  • Ajay Bhakta Shrestha: singles kata
  • Akash Tamang: 50 kg
  • Sanjeev Lama: men´s 45 kg
  • Kailash Basnet: 40 kg.
  • Ekata Singh, the only female participant from Nepal, cliched gold in women´s 50 kg category
