Commentary

Alby Zalmi win by 4 wickets with 9 balls to spare

A target of 85 was never going to be enough to contain the Zalmi side and nothing out of the ordinary transpired during the chase either. Rahel Khan, the skipper who has been horrendously out of touch during the tournament, once again departed without troubling the scorers in the first over. However, that was the only moment where super kings looked remotely interested in extracting a result in their favour.

Afterwards, it was the pyrotechnichs of Taj Hussain, Azam Khalil and wicketkeeper Zabibullah Niazy that ensured Zalmi got over the line, relatively unscathed. Barring Ashok Bishnoi, none of the Super Kings bowlers could contain the opposition batters. They bowled wrong line and did not make the batters work hard, even when chasing a small total.

To compound the misery, Super kings wicketkeeper Aaftab Khan sustained a twisted ankle at the fag end of the innings which makes his further participation in the tournament difficult. He was the top scorer for his side in the first inning and his absence may have cataclysmic effect for Kings, who are already struggling.
