Commentary

That's an end to Malaysia's campaign in this tournament. They go back without any wins but a lot of learnings -- especially on fielding and strike-rotation. Bangladesh are going to the next round and look very strong thanks to their spin attack. India would have to be wary and careful to face them and it should be an interesting semi-final. For now, though, it's Lavil and Rudransh signing off for Sportskeeda!

Nigar Sulata (Bangladesh captain): Winning is always a good feeling. This was a very crucial game for us. We had to win to qualify. Consistency from the batters like Murshida (on the positives) and the control the bowlers have shown. (On semis) We are looking forward to playing good cricket. It depends on the particular day. I have belief in my team. I always love batting. On this kind of surface, the ball was coming nicely and Murshida on the other end made it easier. Dilara has been doing a great job. I felt she was not able to take the gloves because of me so I forced the coach to make her do it so she could get some confidence!

Murshida Khatun is the Player of the Match: Thanks to the Almighty. I am happy to get the highest score for Bangladesh. I am very confident ahead of the semi-final. I have a very good understanding with Dilara because we have batted together for a long time. Last match, we had a bit of a miscommunication. Cover-drive was my favorite shot from today.

Winifred Duraisingam (captain, Malaysia): This is a great experience for all the girls. It is a young squad, they will take learnings from here and they hope for much exposure. We weren't up to the mark but I hope we will learn and come back stronger. We have a lot of youngsters in the team. It is tough for them to play against big teams in the Asia Cup and hopefully, they have learned something from the tournament

Every Bangladeshi bowler who bowled more than one over picked up a wicket. And they used seven bowlers. That tells you all you need to know about this innings. Malaysia just couldn't figure out any of the bowlers and the stark difference in quality and experience was once again exposed.

Bangladesh put up their second-highest T20I total which was always going to be close to impossible for Malaysia. They started interestingly, with the captain demoting herself to number four. Temporary opener Ainna Hamizah Hashim got out for a two-ball duck and it sent them on the backfoot.

Hunter and Julia, as they often do, stuck around for a bit and scored almost half of the team's runs. But Nahida broke the partnership and after that, it was all Bangladesh as the Malaysian middle-order failed to pick up the spinners' variations and rotate the strike or find boundaries.

Bangladesh tried a ton of bowlers and everyone kept picking up soft dismissals and the Malaysian lower-order soon transitioned from trying to win it to extending their time in the middle. They batted 20 overs but ended up giving Bangladesh an excellent NRR boost anyway.
