Pitch Report
The dimensions 73 m straight 69 metres to my right and 60 metres to my left. Pretty good. I have to say I like what I see. Nice and hard. Spinners have dominated here but you are gonna disappear if you don't get it right. Looks a bit tacky due to the weather around but it looks a good pitch to bat on overall.

The Royals have sealed a playoffs spot. They would now be hoping to cement their place in the top two in the coming days. The Patriots, on the other hand, are now on the brink of elimination. They still have a theoretical chance to qualify. Though, it requires a lot of things out of their control to go their way. The picture would now become clearer with every subsequent match going forward. And we will be there to take you through it all. For now, Darpan Tikiya and Arya Sekhar Chakraborty wave you goodbye. Ciao!
Rovman Powell [Royals Captain]: It has been a very good home leg. 3 wins out of 4 games. We will take it. We are one of the better teams in the tournament. Hopefully we will continue to play like this. (On Rakheem Cornwall) He is primarily in the team for the batting. But it is good that he comes in like this and delivers a 5-star performance. (On the crowd) The crowd has been fantastic. When you come home, you want to feel like home and they have made us feel like home. Credit also to my boys who have performed well.
Andre Fletcher [Patriots Captain]: Honestly, there is no emotion. The whippings have been there from the start of the tournament. We just have to find a way to win. We have two more games. We have to play hard cricket. When you keep losing, it is difficult to find the motivation. I have to do some soul searching. We all have to do some soul searching.
We will find out what the captains have to say about the match in a few moments from now. Hang around!
Rahkeem Cornwall is the Player of the Match, here is what he had to say: Yeah it was a good performance. I just backed myself and put the ball in the good areas. I enjoyed every wicket and backed my skills. The team backed me as well. The support over the past four games has been massive. Hopefully, we have given them something to cheer.
Barbados Royals win by 9 wickets and qualify for the playoffs.
Quinton de Kock -59* (38) | Rakheem Cornwall 5/16 Andre Fletcher - 32 (22) | Wanindu Hasaranga - 1/22
These two teams have had contrasting runs in the tournament thus far. They find themselves on the opposite ends of the points table and the match played out exactly like that. The Royals steamrolled the Patriots and have now officially made it to the playoffs.
They hardly put a foot wrong today. Powell called it right at the toss and the bowlers justified the decision to bowl first. Naveen ul Haq picked up early wickets, while Rakheem "the dream" Cornwall ran through the middle order, picking up a fifer in the process. The Patriots' batters made it a tad easier as they followed one poor shot with the other. A cameo from their skipper was the only bright spec.
Then, Quinton de Kock made light work of the chase. He used the first couple of overs to get his eye in and then started to unfurl his shots. He put some clean ball-striking on display and very soon, the shoulders of the opposition players started drooping. In the end, they gunned down the target in 11.2 overs, earning the "Q" on the points table and also giving themselves a huge boost in the net run rate column.
11.3 Ryan John to Alick Athanaze, FIVE WIDES! That will be the win for the Barbados Royals. They win by 9 wickets and become the first team to qualify for the playoffs. Swinging delivery sliding down leg, the keeper had no chance and that skips away to the fence.
11.2 Ryan John to Alick Athanaze, on a good-length angling into Athanaze from round the wicket. Athanaze misses out on the tuck towards the square leg region.
11.1 Ryan John to Alick Athanaze, a well directed short delivery but a bit leg sidish, Athanaze tries to help it around the corner, doesn't make any contact.
The decibel levels at the Kensington Oval continue to rise. The crowd realises that the home team is on the brink of playoff qualification.

10.6 Tabraiz Shamsi to Alick Athanaze, again flatter and shorter outside off, cut off the backfoot towards the deep cover-point fielder for a single.
10.5 Tabraiz Shamsi to Quinton de Kock, flatter and shorter outside off, QDK rocks back and cuts it towards the sweeper cover fielder for a single.
That puts the Royals within touching distance of a win. Theoretically, just one hit away.
10.4 Tabraiz Shamsi to Quinton de Kock, SIX! That has been deposited straight over the bowler's head for a maximum. An overpitched delivery around middle from Shamsi, QDK makes some room and launches it downtown, lands on the sightscreen. The Royals just one hit away from winning this.
10.3 Tabraiz Shamsi to Alick Athanaze, flatter and quicker on a good-length around middle, Ahanaze hangs back and nudges it towards the square leg region for a single.
10.2 Tabraiz Shamsi to Quinton de Kock, QDK makes some room and tries to launch this fuller one down the ground, more of the inside half of the bat, Nortje at long off does well to keep it to a single.
10.1 Tabraiz Shamsi to Quinton de Kock, slowish on a fuller-length around middle, pushed away defensively towards the cover fielder.
We will now slip into a strategic timeout. There isn't much left to strategise about in this game. But hey! They gotta pay the bills.
