Cobra CC win by 39 runs!
Hafeez Ullah 53 (27) | Ashutosh Mathur (2/10) Ali Farasat 15 (13) | Abbas Ghani (3/23)
Budapest Blinders have been handed their first defeat of the tournament courtesy of a clinical all-round performance from Cobra CC! They took the bowlers on early in the first innings and set an above-par target for the difficult conditions at play here in Hungary. Despite being one of the best batting side, the Blinders just didn't get going in the second innings.
Mathur bowled an excellent first over and got Ghani and Weligamage out off two brilliant balls. Rasikh got hit for a couple by Gooch but a change of angle worked wonders for him, and Cobra got rid of the Blinders' dangerous top-three inside the powerplay. Only a big blistering partnership could've saved the batting side but instead they got a 5 (11) from Nayak who eventually retired out when the required run-rate climbed over 20.
Farasat showed intent for a few deliveries and top-scored with 15 (13) but no other batter had the quality or intent to take on Cobra CC's attempted yorkers. The bowling side were immaculate in the field too and didn't give anything away. Both these teams are not set for the semi-finals. Cobra CC now have momentum behind them while the Blinders would feel that they have a big wakeup call ahead of the big matches.
