Ameya Deshpande tried his level best as wickets kept falling around him, but it was not meant to be. Barring Asmdin Zadran, he received next to no help from the rest of the batting. Irfan Ahmed, Ashish Makkar and Sasanka Sanka all fell cheaply, with Sanka, the most in-form batter out of them, struggling throughout his 9 deliveries, eventually scoring 6.

Deshpande had to hog most of the strike and take on the Blackcaps bowling. As the overs were coming towards an end, so were the runs, with Deshpande striking them neat and clean. Unfortunately, he got out at the wrong time - with one over left and 19 to get, but Koln CC were still in it thanks to an erratic first delivery from Jamshed in the final over. Jamshed redeemed himself, though, and in the end, Koln CC fell a solitary run short.
