Thanks a lot for joining us here at Sportskeeda for an exciting game of cricket between Galle Marvels and Jaffna Kings in Qualifier 1 of the ongoing Lanka Premier League, live from the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka! We hope you enjoyed it as Galle won it by 7 wickets and booked their spot in the final. Jaffna will now get another chance to qualify for the final by virtue of playing in Qualifier 2.

Niroshan Dickwella (Galle Marvels' captain): Another win, and I am happy. We wanted to give Janith (Liyanage) an opportunity and that was all. He was batting here and there a lot, and we wanted to give him the number four spot. I didn't know that the umpire gave it as out, so wanted to review it. However, it was only later that I realised that he had given it as not out. I did not feel it hitting my gloves.

Charith Asalanka (Jaffna Kings' captain): We, we have another match but we need to be more disciplined in all three departments. I take the responsibility for today's loss as I dropped a crucial chance and let my team down. It could have been different had I taken it. It was crucial for us.

Dwayne Pretorius (Player of the Match): I think it was important to focus on my lengths on this surface. It was necessary for me to hit the 6-7 metre length. I really feel like that's the best option on this wicket. We sat down as a bowling group and mentioned that we wanted to win the powerplay, which we did. This gave us a bit of momentum as well.

Galle Marvels beat Jaffna Kings by a comfortable margin here and they have the standout partnership between Tim Seifert and Janith Liyanage to thank for that.

However, a lot of credit also has to be given to Alex Hales and skipper Niroshan Dickwella for getting their team off to a good start. The bowlers of Jaffna tried their best to ensure that there were as few loose deliveries as possible, but that could not be managed somehow.

They conceded a lot of looseners, and the batters of Galle capitalised upon them with full confidence. Jaffna know that this is not that big a deal as they will get the opportunity to test their wares in the Qualifier 2 game which will be played between them and the winner of the Eliminator later tonight.

Galle, on the other hand, have booked a slot for themselves in the final of this season's Lanka Premier League and will be keen on gunning for the title as well.

That will be that, then! Galle Marvels book their spot in the final of LPL 2024.
