Commentary

That brings us to the end of another doubleheader day in the ECS T10 Belgium. Till the next time, it's time to big goodbye from the commentary box. This is Arya Sekhar Chakraborty signing off on the behalf of my fellow commentator Rajarshi. Ta-ta.

Riding on a whirlwind knock by Noman Kamawi, Beveren posted 142 after batting first in their allotted 10 overs. They got off to a brisk start owing to a 16 balls 37 by Abdulrashid Karim and though they lost two quick wickets, the run rate never went down by a considerable margin. Barrey and Sreekanth Mandapati was the pick of the bowlers for ICCB with two wickets each. They bowled well in the middle stages but it was Noman who took the game by the scruff of the neck and ensured that Beveren went past the 140 mark. He remained unbeaten on 56 of just 22 deliveries.

The run-chase never really got going. It was a sensational opening over by Asiqullah Said which set the tone for Beveren to defend this score. hey could only muster 27 runs in the powerplay which meant that they had to play catch up for the rest of the run-chase. Anand Sundaram was dismissed for a duck, while Sai Teepi didn't get enough deliveries at the start of his innings and was eventually dismissed for just 2. Gangadhar Barrey struck a flurry of fours but the required rate still kept climbing.

Rajasekhar Goli and Anirudh Pothamshetty kept ICCB in the mix with some good power-hitting but the asking rate was just too much in the end and they couldn't quite cope up with that towards the latter stages. Hikmat Jabarkhail, the right-arm leg spinner finished the formalities with a couple of wickets in the penultimate over which proved to be the final nail in the coffin for ICCB.

That brings us to the end of this encounter which eventually turned out to be a one-sided affair. The International CC Brussels were never really in the run-chase after a sensational powerplay for the Beveren bowlers and in the end, it was a comprehensive 32 runs victory for them.
