Thisara Perera (Jaffna Kings captain): I think the game was great. Credit to the bowlers as they did well in these conditions. I told Seales and Lakmal that bowling the slow ball is tough in these conditions, so try cramping the batsmen with the yorkers. We are already late for the celebration. So, nothing much more.

Angelo Perera (Kandy Warriors captain): We were actually expecting to win the game by two balls, given the form Rovman Powell was in. We wish him all the best from now on as he is departing for the series against Pakistan. We are going to get Ravi Bopara in place for him.

181 is a tough target to chase in 20 overs. And, Kandy Warriors had to complete the task in just 14 overs. Looking back, they will be proud of their effort as they went down by just 14 runs.

Jaffna Kings took a gamble by bowling the four overs in the powerplay by spinners Maheesh Theekshana and Wanindu Hasaranga. However, the plan backfired as Charith Asalanka picked up the gaps and the scoreboard read 45/0.

Striking at a rate of over 200, he got dismissed in the seventh over. But, the problems for Jaffna Kings only got compounded as Rovman Powell entered the picture.

The West Indian struck the second fastest fifty in LPL history before being given a standing ovation by the opponents for playing a monstrous innings. Kandy Warriors were ahead at the worm with three overs to go but there fortunes changed from there on.

Some brilliant bowling by Suranga Lakmal at one end restricted the flow of runs while Jayden Seales scalped two wickets in the penultimate over to put the game out of reach.

With 23 required off 6 deliveries and two new batsmen on the crease, Angelo Perera ran himself out trying to complete a quick double while Tillakaratne Sampath could muster only a single boundary in the last over. With this loss, Kandy Warriors' search for getting their first win in LPL 2021 continues.
