Rikki Clarke has been adjudged the Player of the Match! Here is what he has to say.

Rikki Clarke: It felt good to be out there and it feels nice receiving this award. The pitch was not the easiest to bat on but we started with the right approach. I took some time early on and then got into the groove with some timely fours and sixes. This is out first game, we will need to keep this standard going into the upcoming games as well. On the whole, it was a clinical effort from us right through.

Farveez Maharoof (Patna Warriors captain): We batted well today. On that pitch, we started well with the bat and kept the scoreboard ticking over. That helped us in keeping up with the asking rate right till the end. We have a good group of cricketers in our squad and they will be required to come good in the next few days with the schedule as packed as it is.

Harbhajan Singh (Nagpur Ninjas captain): We came close yet again but could not quite finish the job. We need to bat and field better to be honest. Those were the two areas where we ended up losing the match. The opposition teams are planning really well against us and managing to win some crucial moments, so, we have to plan better now and execute those plans properly.

It wasn't meant to get this close with the way things started out, but a commendable effort from the Ninjas bowlers, the slow bowlers in particular, made the equation a lot more interesting! The game turned on its head as we headed into the slog overs, and it took a calculated, measured effort from Warriors captain Farveez Maharoof, partnered by Kapil Mehta, to get their team over the line!

Rikki Clarke absolutely toyed with the Nagpur Ninjas bowling early on in the innings. The former England international was seeing the ball like a beach-ball in the powerplay, hitting fours and sixes for fun! While his opening partner, Manvinder Bisla, failed to capitalize on a good start, Clarke found a good companion in Vikram Singh and later, Ompal Boken, and the duo went on to control the run-chase!

Boken's run out, followed by Clarke's off stump being pegged back in the same over, changed the complexion of the game just a bit. The required rate started to simmer just a tad bit, but in the end, Kapil Mehta and Farveez Maharoof held their nerves, took the game deep, and in the end, helped the team sail through to the target of 148!
