Zak Crawley [Player of the Match - 67* (38)]: I absolutely loved it out there (On being a part of Northern Superchargers). It was great to be working with Freddie, he's a legend. It was a really good wicket and the outfield was rapid, so we knew we could chase the total they set. Dawid Malan and I had a good partnership, and then Skipper came in and finished it off well. We knew we needed to take regular wickets to keep them under pressure, and we did well to restrict them to a total around 140.
9:26 PM Local Time, 1:56 AM IST: Northern Superchargers (147 for 2) defeat Welsh Fire (143 for 9) by 8 wickets
A 47 run stand between Crawley and Brook ensures that Northern Superchargers complete the double over Welsh Fire in the women's and men's fixtures! A move from Welsh Fire to a new outfit has started off very well for the swashbuckling opener who enjoyed a sublime chase.
Dawid Malan is among the leading run-scorers in this history of the competition but David Payne extracted enough swing from the surface at the start of the chase to keep both batters at bay before a sumptuous Dawid Malan cover drive saw the first boundary of the run chase. Zak Crawley who's coming in after a gruelling 5-Test match series against India, was in an authoritative mood, striking a maximum off only the 3rd ball that he faced. The initial signs were crystal clear. We got a couple of aggressive batters ready to take charge of the chase and Welsh Fire needed to keep their composure to ensure it's their opponents that flinch first, and not them.
Dropped catches did not help as Superchargers raced to 49 at the end of the 25 ball powerplay. As much as this looked like a one-sided contest, one had to bear in mind that even Welsh Fire struggled to infuse any sort of momentum once their opening stand was broken. It was a surface where new batters found it tough to get going with the older ball. Fire needed to believe that they can stop the avalanche of runs and create chances for them to have any dreams of staging a comeback.
Unfortunately that did not happen as Malan played the perfect foil for the ultra-aggressive approach of his young partner at the other end who watched the ball like a football en-route a match winning unbeaten effort. The southpaw was proficient with his punches down the ground, tickles down the leg side, swift rotations of strike that never allowed the momentum to dwindle. The first wicket fell but not before 91 runs were added, almost sealing the deal for Northern Superchargers. Harry Brook came in and charged Riley Meredith for a maximum over covers off his very first ball.
There were more dropped chances that summed up the day on the field for Welsh Fire in what was a forgetful outing. Zak Crawley brought up only the 2nd individual half century in this year's tournament, only behind Phil Salt's 60 last night. He reached his milestone with a maximum which also brought down the equation to less than run a ball with deafening sounds to celebrate yet another dropped catch by the Fire, their 3rd of the evening, with Brook being the lucky bloke.
There were fortuitous shots towards the end of the chase, outside edges that just evaded the wicket keeper, serving as a sweet garnishing to what has been a pretty comprehensive chase. Crawley finished with an unbeaten 67 with his skipper at the other end. Let's hear from the man of the moment!
17.4 Chris Green to Zak Crawley, DONE AND DUSTED!!! Overpitched in the slot just outside off, Crawley times his drive perfectly and finds the gap at covers to seal the deal for Northern Superchargers in front of their home crowd. They win by 8 wickets.
17.3 Chris Green to Harry Brook, a bit quicker and full outside off, Brook flicks it to mid wicket and quickly takes off. But they get just one. 1 more needed to win now!
17.2 Chris Green to Zak Crawley, a bit fuller this time, Crawley drives it and gets a single at long on.
17.1 Chris Green to Harry Brook, good length on the stumps, pushed down to long on.

These guys are in a hurry! They have got a curfew timing back in the hotel! Or they are absolutely famished and want to get some food into the system as soon as possible! This has been a proper batting masterclass.
17.0
16.5 David Payne to Harry Brook, SIX THIS TIME!!! A juicy full toss outside off, and Brook just times it perfectly to slice it over sweeper covers, just clearing the ropes for a Maximum.
16.4 David Payne to Harry Brook, FOUR!!! Slower back of a length delivery outside off, Brooks reads it well and square cuts it in the gap at covers for a boundary.
16.3 David Payne to Zak Crawley, good length outside off, swept to mid wicket for a single.
16.2 David Payne to Zak Crawley, BEATEN! Off pace delivery wide outside off, Crawley wanted to sweep but gets beaten by pace.
16.1 David Payne to Zak Crawley, EDGED AND FOUR!!! Lucky boundary for Crawley. It was full and outside off. Crawley, once again, charged down the track, looking to hit it over covers. Gets a thick outside edge past the fielder at short third for a boundary.

Saif Zaib is being given loud cheers every time he is fielding a ball out there now with the Western Terrace right behind him. Meredith becomes the first Welsh Fire bowler to complete his full quota of 20 balls.
16.0
15.5 Riley Meredith to Zak Crawley, back of a length again on the off stump, pulled easily to deep mid wicket.
15.4 Riley Meredith to Harry Brook, bouncer on the body, Brook moves away and pulls it to deep mid wicket. Great effort there to stop the batters to just one.
