The fact that the Punjab Lions Nicosia shelled so many chances, particularly of a national cricketer in Nicholas Smit, pretty much saw the end of them. Smit was a very, very lucky man at the start of his innings, he offered several skied chances but none of the PLN fielders were able to latch on.

Riding his luck, Smit then went on the charge. His partner, Azhar Andani, couldn't quite get going, and was dismissed by a sharp bit of work from Pathirana, the PLN keeper.

Conrad Greenshields then joined Smit, and it was carnage from then on. The ball kept flying into and over the boundary on a regular basis, particularly off the slow bowlers, Smit got to a half-century but ran out of luck soon after. Greenshields smashed a full delivery back to the bowler, who ended up deflecting it onto the stumps at his end with Smit out of his crease.

Greenshields, though, ensured that the job got done. He, along with Miguel Machado, kept finding the boundaries, both in conventional and unconventional manners, and they killed it off in the penultimate over ultimately.
