Warriors beat Settlers by 9 runs

It wasn’t a huge target for the Settlers but they needed a steady start to coast through to the target. However the start proved to be a disastrous one for them with Kevin Stoute and Nicholas Kirton getting dismissed early on.

Andre Marshall bowled a brilliant opening over which included the wicket of Stoute while it was Jaden Lorde who managed to prize out the dangerous Nicholas Kirton. The Settlers needed someone to step on the accelerator and it was Kevin Wickham who answered the call.

He raced his way to a 7-ball 22 which included 3 sixes and provided the much-needed impetus for the Settlers. However, he went for one shot too many and had to depart in the same over of the bowling of Jared Gilkes.

Kadeem Alleyne tried to resurrect the innings and batted sensibly for his knock of 20 off 17 deliveries before perishing in an attempt to keep the required rate under check.

Jonathan Carter who couldn’t quite make an impact with the bat bowled a splendid opening over and managed to keep the Warriors in the game. Eventually, the target proved to be way too much in the end as the Settlers could only muster 88/6 in their allotted 10 overs.

Carter and Jaden Lorde were the picks of the bowlers. While Lorde bagged a wicket for just 9 runs in his two overs, Carter also chipped in with an important wicket, giving away just 14 runs. Wickham was the top scorer for them, scoring 22 off 7.

A brilliant effort from the Warriors bowlers to defend the below-par score of 97 and they did that quite admirably in the end. They have qualified for the semi-final.
