Commentary

So, the West Indies take the lead in this series. We had to wait for a bit for the contest to get underway but it was certainly worth the wait and delivered the entertainment. It's a short turnaround with these two going at it again tomorrow. Expect some changes for both sides from that game with this series cramped in the middle like it is. It's the same place and same time tomorrow, with the weather promising to be a lot better as well. So, join us again in less than 24 hours for round two. Rovman Powell is the Player of the Match! Here's what he has to say: After the disappointment with the way I got out in the ODI series, just thought will bat through today. First ball was respectful, tried to push it around initially. Lot of guys are used to the T10 format, that helped us and the ball travels nicely here and 130 is always gettable here, just needed two batters to go long. Lot of shots were played, bit of period we needed to push around, can't hit all the balls to sixes, it's all about knocking it around. We just have to do the basics good, ball will travel here but it's also important we get wickets with the strong South Africa batting line-up.

Aiden Markram (South Africa captain): Was close, those small moments, it always going down to the wire, to put your finger on it, we let ourselves down a bit both with the bat and ball. We scraped to 130 and then to take it on to the last over is a great effort from the bowlers, will come back tomorrow and do it well. Venue like, the ball flies, we knew we needed a lot of runs, it's tough to defend and we would've taken 130 at the start but still could've gotten lot more. Plenty of positives we can take, a lot of the bowlers did well today but we got to do it all over again tomorrow, we will rectify the issues from today and come back better. Will do some debriefing but it's T20 cricket, meant to be entertaining.

Cricket has become a batter's game, they say. Well, it certainly holds trust in this game. There was such little margin for error for the bowlers with the batters looking to go all guns blazing with the limited deliveries they faced. After Miller's heroics in the first game gave his side something to defend, West Indians were marshaled over the line by their captain.

They came out breathing some intent from ball one, smashing 46 runs in the three-over powerplay. King looked in supreme touch, as did Johnson Charles, as he took down Shamsi in the middle overs. Pooran also chipped in with a little bit, but it was all about Rovman Powell in that run chase. His power game was on full display as he blazed his way to a 18-ball-43, punishing the bowlers as he led his side to the finish line.

There was plenty of promise in that batting performance for the West Indies but in the manner which they lost track in the middle was a bit concerning. A shortened game might be a factor in that too, with a few batters throwing their wickets away, but it they'll be delighted to get over the line at the end of the day.

Sisanda Magala was the pick of the bowlers for the Proteas with Anrich Nortje also steaming in to trouble the West Indians. In fact, Nortje bowled at an economy rate of under 6, while the rest conceded runs at least 10 runs per over. The rest of the bowlers went the distance, and will be looking for a better outing next time out with the series on the line.

10.3 Wayne Parnell to Rovman Powell, THAT'S IT! Powell helps West Indies take an unassailable lead in the three match T20I series, 1-0! Goes full this time on the leg-stump. Powell clipped it past square-leg and jogs across to seal the game. What a player!

9.5 Sisanda Magala to Roston Chase, APPEAL FOR A CATCH, NOT GIVEN! South Africa review it. Another snorter from Magala. Short and takes Chase by surprise. He takes his eyes off to pull but misses, that lobs up in the air as the point fielder running forward to take it. South Africa think they got their man. UltraEdge confirms there's a clear gap between bat and ball and Chase survives!

Magala makes it two in two! He's on a hat-trick! We saw Issy Wong take one in the WPL yesterday. Can Magala do it today?
