There is no denying that it was the mammoth total of 128 that Overseas put up that allowed them to win this match. This will please them a lot as they had lost the previous game played between these two teams earlier in the day. This time, though, their batters put up a big total that their bowlers could defend quite comfortably if a little nervously.

The Southern Crusaders did not look like they were in the chase for long, and Overseas were sitting comfortably until the over from Aron Oulton (the eighth of the innings) tilted the balance in favour of the batting side a little. However, Kivian Johnson was thrown the ball by his skipper soon, and he repaid the faith with a couple of quick wickets. Having broken the back of the Crusaders, all that remained was for Overseas to sound the victory bugle.

This time, they had truly defeated the Crusaders, despite not being the favourites to do so before the game started. Kivian Johnson was the hero for Overseas, picking up two wickets after scoring an eventful 32 with the bat, and then returning to take two wickets in the crucial ninth over. The last over of the game, bowled by Jaz Cable, did give Overseas a big scare, and hats off to Mithila Avishka for keeping the faith and batting through for an exhilarating half-century, but in the end, the total proved to be too big for him to chase.

Needing twelve runs off the last two deliveries, Cable bowled a wide. However, he did manage to land one on the spot soon, and the game was over. Overseas had won and by a rather close margin. Avishka scored a six off the last ball of the game, and walked off cursing his bad luck as to how he could not put away the penultimate one. This was as close a game as any we have seen in the ECS Malta this season!
