It was more of a contest between Satya Srinivas against the Lemgo bowlers as Gelsenkirchen set out to chase a target of 127. The support from the other end was meagre for the VfBG wicketkeeper-batter, who was striking it as clean as a whistle, getting his side off to the perfect start in the powerplay. The run rate at that time was hovering around 17, so VfBG had perfect reasons to consider themselves being on top of the game.
The Lemgo bowlers kept fighting back. Some poor shot selection and bad running meant that Srinivas kept losing partners throughout the middle-overs, and was away from the strike for longer periods of time. Once he departed at the end of the 7th over, the end seemed nigh for VfBG, but Ronit Satapathy and Krishnan Sahasranaman showed some fight to get them close to the target. A top-class penultimate over from Daljeet Singh sucked out the momentum from the chase, and 21 off the last over was a bit too much for them.
