So that brings India's tour of Zimbabwe to a close. It was short, crisp and entertaining but the juggernaut rolls on. The Asia Cup 2022 beckons and while the tournament kicks off on Saturday, the marquee clash between India and Pakistan will be played in Dubai come Sunday (August 28). And here goes Shardul Thakur with a popped champagne bottle as he gives someone from his team a run for his life (literally). It's Shahbaz Ahmed who poses with the trophy with Rahul Tripathi beside him. Neither managed to get an opportunity but it won't be long before their time comes as well. It's been quite a series and the scoreline of 3-0 sure wouldn't reflect how competitive it was today. Zimbabwe have a lot of positives to take out from this 3-match rubber and they keep moving forward - a big series is lined up in Australia towards the end of the month. That ought to be a cracker too alright!

KL Rahul (Captain, India): Obviously feels good. We came here with a few ideas and wanted to use these three games. Like I said at the beginning of the series a few of us hadn't got enough games so we wanted to use this series to get enough time. We've been really professional in the way we played. (Nervous during that Raza-Evans partnership?) I wouldn't say nervous but they took the game really deep. We would have ideally wanted to finish the game earlier but it's good to get this as a challenge. It tests the nerves of the bowlers and glad to be on the winning side. (How's his body feeling) I've fielded about 150 overs (grins). The body is feeling good, I got a hit out in the middle today. Hopefully I can continue doing this going forward and keep the confidence going. After a gap of two months, it feels really good being on the field. (On Gill) He's batted beautifully throughout the series, even before the series in the West Indies. He came in with good form. He's a really good batter, he has all the shots and is really pleasing to the eye. Great to see him using his form and score those runs. He's not trying too hard, he's just doing it simple. He hasn't played too much international cricket or ODIs but he's shown great temperament.

Regis Chakabva (Captain, Zimbabwe): I mean, firstly congratulations to India, they played really well. Raza and Evans gave us a fighting chance but India were good in the end. Again huge positives from the bowling perspective, the bowlers fought really hard in the field, even though the batters disappointed but we came back from a tough situation, Raza's innings was something special. Definitely will take a lot of positives from today, we're sure as we go down under and will key it all in and play some good cricket.

Shubman Gill is also the Player of the Series for his tally of 245 runs at 122.50.

Here's what he has to say: It feels great. It's a great bunch of players and I've been playing with them for quite some time. It's great when you know all of them. This one was definitely for my dad since he's been my friend and coach throughout. I got a bit of a schooling day before yesterday when I got out on 33. So this one's for him.

Shubman Gill has been awarded the Player of the Match for his magnificent hundred to set up this win for India!

Shubman Gill: I was trying to minimize my dot ball percentage, if you look at how I played I didn't try to hit the ball hard, I just tried to time it try to pick the bad balls. When I went in, Raza and Evans were bowling well, it was crucial for us to get through and then we can take on the bowlers. The bat is very good, that's why I changed it and I wanted to save it. It's always special to a hundred, I had got to 90's before but this is special.

Andy Pycroft is felicitated for having refereed in 200 ODIs. A terrific achievement at that!

ODI cricket is dying eh? Inconsequential? Too long? Think again! This was a classic for the ages. And if anything, it's a harsh reminder of why sport can bring the highest of highs for one party but agony and heartbreak for the other. We witnessed two magnificent hundreds but alas, only one of them could end up on the winning side.

India struggled with the bat in all honesty and had it not been for Shubman Gill's masterful 97-ball 130, even a total of 289 would have been hard to come by. Deepak Chahar got the visitors off to the best possible start though, trapping Innocent Kaia dead in front and getting it overtuned via a successful review. Takudzwanashe Kaitano retired hurt with a sore hamstring but the hosts were not going to buckle down.

Sean Williams launched a counter-attack with young Tony Munyonga pushed up the order. The former was looking in ominous touch and put the innings right on track, forcing India to look around real hard. It was Axar Patel who got into the act and trapped him in front and that's where the momentum shifted in favor of India. Wickets fell at regular intervals with Kuldeep Yadav using his googlies to great effect and beating the outside edge on multiple occasions. At 169/7, the game seemed dead and buried.

But is any game ever over as long as Sikandar Raza is out there? Nah uh! This man is a character. He's always up for a scrap and here he was at the thick of it again. With Brad Evans for company, the plan was clear - see out the spinners and pile the misery on the seamers. They were helped by some extremely poor execution by the Indian seam attack and a couple of shoddy lapses on the field as well.

India clearly came under the pump and Raza, post reaching his half-century, flicked a switch to operate on overdrive. He raised a brilliant ODI ton and with Evans giving him solid support and the asking rate around the 10-run mark, he kept the hosts right on track. The crowd went ballistic as they could sense a famous victory and the Indian bowlers continued to lose the plot.

Just when it seemed that the wheels had come off though, a certain Shubman Gill got into the act again. This time though, it was on the field as he pulled off a stunning catch to bring Raza's heroics to a screeching halt just an over after Evans was trapped in front. That was the final nail in the coffin for Zimbabwe and while it's a heartbreaking pill to swallow, they can be mighty proud of how they ran the more fancied Indian outfit to the hilt. Phew! That was a contest and then some - stick around for the presentation...

Ah where was this delivery before Avesh? Better late than never in the end as he gets it absolutely spot on to seal the deal for the visitors. India beat Zimbabwe by 13 runs to seal the series 3-0.

Spare a thought Zimbabwe's efforts in this game, India thinks they might've gotten out of the jail at the end. Searing yorker, right up in the blockhole, not much Nyauchi could've done about it, misses and that crashes on to the base of the stumps.
