Arsenal have made an excellent start to their Premier League campaign. This performance was poles apart from their disasterclass in August 2021 - a month that saw them begin their campaign with a winless streak. This is a different Arsenal team - a potentially mature one. The onus still lies on Mikel Arteta to improve his squad, but it's so far, so good.
The Premier League's off to an excellent start! We'll be back with more coverage on England's top flight. Until next time, this is your host, Aditya Hosangadi, wishing you a good night!
Crystal Palace, to their credit, showed plenty of promise after half-time. Wilfried Zaha, in particular, was at his effervescent best and was unlucky not to contribute to a goal tonight. The Eagles have a long season ahead of them and will need to make amends.
Arsenal win their first game of the 2022-23 season. They certainly had to work hard for it. The Gunners were the better team in the first half, and Martinelli's goal gave them a cushion to rest on during Palace's second-half onslaught.
Arsenal have won more games (1), scored more goals (2) and kept more clean sheets (1) in the Premier League in August 2022 than they managed during August 2021 (all 0).
50 - Mikel Arteta has won 50 league matches with Arsenal after 98 games in charge, making him the second-quickest manager to reach 50 top-flight wins for the Gunners, after Arsène Wenger (94th game). Mantle. pic.twitter.com/7d6sOyUmWC
90+3' Free-kick to Arsenal in midfield, and that should be that tonight.
90+2' A substitution for Arsenal, as Martin Odegaard makes way for Albert Sambi Lokonga
90+1' Brilliant cross into the box that leaves Ramsdale stranded, and Tierney steps in with a crucial header!
Three minutes of stoppage-time. It's now or never for Crystal Palace.
87' Another attempt by Saka, and he wins a corner this time. The attempt is too close to the goalkeeper, however, and Palace are back in possession.
85' GOOOOAAAAAL to Arsenal! Guehi with an unfortunate header past his own keeper. Saka pulls off stunning run, and his cross grazes Guehi's head to double Arsenal's lead.
83' Arsenal make a double change, with Eddie Nketiah and Kieran Tierney on for Jesus and Zinchenko.
82' Eze goes down! Didn't seem like much, and the referee agrees. Zaha plays on anyway, and Arsenal pull off another clearance.
80' Crystal Palace are dominating proceedings here, and Arsenal haven't seen much of the ball. Ayew skips past his man far too easily on the left but finds himself up against one too many defenders.
78' Another brilliant run by Zaha. Skips part Partey's challenge but doesn't get past White. The referee gives Palace a free-kick, but it's cleared pretty easily by Arsenal.
77' Penalty shout! Gabriel and Mateta tumble in the box, but the referee calls a foul in Arsenal's favour. No complaints from Vieira, Mateta was clearly in the wrong there.
75' Cheick Doucoure picks up a knock, and comes off for Luka Milivojevic.
The players break for drinks! Arsenal get a much-needed team talk from Arteta. They've been second-best in the past half-hour, and these last 15 minutes will be crucial
71' Odegaard tracks back with a crucial intervention to dismantle yet another Palace attack. Wilfried Zaha is a man on a mission in the second-half. Arsenal need to slow things down, find a way to take the sting out of this one.
70' Saka! Excellent pass from Ben White to release Saka down the right, but the angle was always going to be tight.
Crystal Palace are employing a very effective press, and the tenacity is getting to Arsenal.
68' Ramsdale does well! Snuffs out yet another Palace set-piece.
67' Free-kick to Palace! Poor giveaway by Ben White, and Saka concedes a potentially dangerous set-piece.
66' Palace on the front foot again, and Arsenal have seen much of the ball after half-time. Schlupp takes another attempt, but the Gunners' defence is on hand to block.
64' Yellow card for Nathaniel Clyne. The referee halted play to give Palace their first booking of the night for a foul on Martinelli.
61' Chaos in the Arsenal box! Palace wreak havoc with a corner, and Ramsdale is forced to make a save he should never have needed to make. The Gunners do win a free-kick, but they'll need to tweak a few things here.
60' Yellow Card for Ben White, after he pushes Zaha to the ground.
59' Arsenal nearly have a second! Jesus catches Palace's defence off guard and cuts it back for Odegaard. The Norwegian isn't able to get his shot away, and Jesus miscues his follow-through. '
58' Odsonne Edouard's night comes to an end, he's replaced by Jean-Philippe Mateta.
56' Odegaard! Plenty of pace, he was looking for the top corner. Missed it by a yard, but it was evident what he was going for.
55' Free-kick for Arsenal, and this time within shooting range. Saka runs at the Palace defence and is hacked to the ground by Mitchell. Odegaard and Martinelli lining it up..
53' Excellent tackle from Saliba! Zaha twists and turns around Ben White and sets up to put in a cross, but Saliba intervenes brilliantly.
Stunning vision from Zaha to set Eze through. Palace need more of the same in the final third.
52' EZE!! Should have scored there. Palace were brilliant on the counter and Eze had the goal at his mercy, but Ramsdale steps up yet again to keep his side in the lead.
51' Odegaard! Takes a shot from the edge of the area, and Arsenal have a corner.
49' It's Odegaard who does take the free-kick, but there's a little too much on it. Saka tries to keep the move alive but Palace remain resolute.
Arsenal with a free-kick here. Martinelli and Odegaard standing over the ball..
47' Jeffrey Schlupp with a shot this time! Wins a corner for his side, but nothing comes from it. Great start by Crystal Palace nonetheless.
46' Crystal Palace have go! Route one stuff from the Eagles, but Ben White is one hand to clear.
And we're off with the second half!
We're back with the second half! Can Palace claw their way back into this one? Arsenal were pretty impressive in the first half, and they'll look to avoid any late jitters.
14 - Only Liverpool and Manchester City (15 each) have scored more Premier League goals from corners than Arsenal (14) since the start of last season. Strategic. pic.twitter.com/v5zxL6b4gt
Arsenal were the much better team though Crystal Palace got into the game towards the end of the first half. Gabriel Martinelli opened the scoring from a well-worked corner. However, Palace should have leveled through Edouard whose close-range header was too close to Ramsdale.
With the score still 1-0, Patrick Vieira will still be hopeful of getting something from the game. We will be back in 15 minutes for the exciting second half! Stay tuned
HALF TIME - CRYSTAL PALACE 0-1 ARSENAL
45+1' CHANCE! Ayew gets the ball across to Edouard whose first shot is blocked by Saliba. He gets the ball and takes another shot. However, the ball is deflected behind for a corner
44' Granit Xhaka gets a yellow card for simulation! The Swiss midfielder goes down far too easily after Andersen barely makes any contact
42' WHAT A SAVE BY RAMSDALE! Edouard should have scored. Andersen had wandered into the box and he plays a header across goal from an Eze freekick. Edouard heads it too close to Ramsdale who shows brilliant reflexes to paw the ball away
40' The resulting free-kick is cleared away by Gabriel. However, Palace win it back almost immediately and keep a period of sustained pressure. That has got the crowd going!
38' Andersen plays a raking pass to Tyreek Mitchell who does brilliantly to control it. He passes it on to Zaha who earns a freekick in a promising area
36' Almost!Ben White puts in a delightful cross but it is Andersen again who is in the way and prevents Arsenal from getting a shot in
34' Strong appeals for handball by Palace! The ball certainly strikes the hand of Gabriel, but there was no intent and the referee Anthony Taylor waves play on
32' Great defensive work from Bukayo Saka! Zaha looked set to unleash a shot but the Arsenal youngster tracked back and nipped the ball away just in time
30' Ramsdale is living dangerously here! The Arsenal shot-stopper almost gives the ball away again. He is having a go at his backline for not giving him enough options
28' Ramsdale almost costs Arsenal! The England international was lazy on the ball and his clearance hits Edouard. Luckily for him the ball bounces back to Gabriel.
24' There is a brilliant zip to Arsenal's passing. Saka, Xhaka, Odegaard, and Zinchenko all combine well to win Arsenal another corner. The resulting corner is too close to the GK and Guaita collects comfortably.
22' Gabriel Jesus looks in the mood tonight! The Arsenal new boy zipped past Marc Guehi but Andersen was on hand once again to prevent Jesus a clear opening
Arsenal's corner is extremely well worked. Saka looped a high and deep corner to an unmarked Zinchenko in the box. The Ukrainian's header across the box is met by Martinelli who makes no mistake from close range. The Brazilian should have got his name on the scoresheet earlier, but he will be happy to grab the first goal of this Premier League season
20' GOOOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLL! Arsenal score thanks to a close range header from Gabriel Martinelli
17' Ayew steals the ball away from Zinchenko and combines well with Eze. He finds Zaha on the edge of the box, but the winger's low cross is cleared comfortably by an alert Granit Xhaka. Palace are slowly starting to ask some questions now
14' Palace are slowly getting into the game. Zaha looks the most likely outlet for the home side at the moment. The crowd is certainly trying its best to inspire the players. What a racket the fans are creating!
11' Crystal Palace defense is looking under increasing pressure already. Martinelli shows a clean pair of heels to get away from his marker. However his pass is intercepted and the ball is cleared away from the ever alert Andersen
8' Zinchenko with the first shot on target for the new season! The Ukrainian has never scored a Premier League goal and his shot was pretty much straight at Guaita who parried relatively comfortably
6' Gabriel Jesus is already causing problems. The Brazilian showed some quick feet, but Andersen was on hand to clear. Good sustained period of pressure from The Gunners
4' Martinelli should have scored! How has he missed that? Gabriel Jesus shows some excellent footwork to find some space in the box. The ball bounces to Martinelli and with an almost empty net to shoot at, his shot goes wide from an acute angle
2' It has been a competitive start so far with both players not afraid to go for the ball. Arsenal try to get going with a quick-free kick taken near the touchline, however, the Palace defense holds strong to clear the ball away
KICK OFF - Crystal Palace get this Premier League season underway

Palace ended last season unbeaten in their last 6 home games. Arsenal certainly have their task cut out. However, this season seems different for the Gunners. With Saliba starting for Arsenal, Ben White is at full-back tonight. Crystal Palace could look to target that position although he has played in that position many times before at Brighton.
"He is a natural leader" - Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is waxing lyrical about new captain Martin Odegaard. The Norwegian is definitely talented. It will be interesting to see how he fares with the extra responsibility
Big news for Arsenal as Gabriel Jesus, Zinchenko and Saliba all start. Crystal Palace will be counting on the likes of Zaha and Edouard to trouble the Arsenal backline
