Dabang Delhi KC 33 - 35 Haryana Steelers

The history between these two sides promised a close game, and that's exactly what we got, with Haryana Steelers winning with literally their last man on court in the last raid of the match, with Dabang Delhi KC playing an extraordinarily high line of defense. This game truly had it all!

Dabang Delhi KC started off brilliantly, registering an all-out in under five minutes, but the Steelers pulled things back, with Vinay and Mohit starring for them in the first half as they trailed by 4 points at half-time. They then came out flying in the second half, not conceding a single point in the first 6-7 minutes of the 2nd half and scoring 10 points themselves to take a lead that Delhi could never manage to get back.

Siddharth Desai got his first Super 10 of the season and was a menace for the Delhi defense in the second half, with Mohit Nandal putting in some tremendous blocks for Haryana. However, Naveen Kumar kept Delhi in it almost all by himself, scoring 16 raid points, but in the end, Ashish's all-round efforts helped Haryana get a deserved, albeit nail-biting win to round out this Super Sunday.

The home team will be in action tomorrow, as will the defending champions, in what should be another exciting day of kabaddi action. Until then, this is Shreyas signing off! Good Night!
2nd Half, 40'
Dabang Delhi KC 33 - 35 Haryana Steelers

Naveen gets an easy point, and with one raid to go, Dabang Delhi are forced to play a high line, and treat the baulk line as the bonus line, trying to prevent Ashish from legitimizing the raid. However, something had to give, and Ashu Malik's attempted ankle hold was a weak one, and Ashish comes in clutch to help the Steelers to win an absolute thriller!
14 seconds to go, Haryana have two defenders on the mat. Naveen Kumar will come in to raid. An all-out will win this match for Delhi. Anything but, and Haryana win this. It all comes down to this.
2nd Half, 40'
Dabang Delhi KC 32 - 34 Haryana Steelers

Ashish has saved his team on more than one occasion in this game, picking up a point from an ambitious tackle from Delhi. Naveen is not giving up, however, with a 5 or 6-second raid to get rid of Jaideep.
2nd Half, 39'
Dabang Delhi KC 31 - 33 Haryana Steelers

Yogesh makes a costly, costly error this late in the match, and loses his footing, stepping past the end-line, gifting a point back. Naveen Kumar follows up with a running hand touch to keep Delhi in the game.
2nd Half, 39'
Dabang Delhi KC 30 - 32 Haryana Steelers

Mohit mistimes his ankle hold on Naveen Kumar, and suddenly it's a 3-point game with around 150 seconds left to play. Naveen Kumar then follows it up with a late kick on a cornered Jaideep Dahiya, who is furious that the right side of defense didn't come in to support him.

2 points separates the teams, Haryana is down to two on the mat, with over a minute and a half to play. Which way will this game go?
2nd Half, 37'
Dabang Delhi KC 28 - 32 Haryana Steelers

Do-or-die raid for the Steelers
and Siddharth Desai is ushered off court by Mohit, but did the Haryana raider cross the mid-line before going out? No, rule the referees, but coach Manpreet Singh is adamant his side review the decision, which they do.

It looks like Siddharth Desai has stepped into the lobby before he even got a touch, so either way, it looks like the referee's decision is the correct one.

After a long look at the replays, the review is unsuccessful, and the on-field call stays.
2nd Half, 36'
Dabang Delhi KC 27 - 32 Haryana Steelers

Both teams play on the do-or-die raid, and it's Ashu who had to go in first, and he wins the cat-and-mouse game with Mohit Nandal. He fakes going deeper toward the left corner twice, and has him in two minds before unleashing a flying hand touch to pull one back for Delhi.
2nd Half, 34'
Dabang Delhi KC 26 - 32 Haryana Steelers

Mohit Nandal has been superb in this 2nd half! Another well-timed dash, and this time, they get the big fish Naveen Kumar. They have a 7-point lead now, but it's reduced to six, with Vinay losing his balance and stepping into the lobby in a do-or-die raid.
2nd Half, 32'
Dabang Delhi KC 25 - 31 Haryana Steelers

The Dabang Delhi defense was told to avoid being impulsive with their tackling, and they hold off when Siddharth Desai comes into raid, and allow him to take a rather easy bonus point. Ashish then continues what he's done all game, surprising the raider heading toward the right corner with a diving ankle hold from the right-in position. He has his third tackle point of the night!
2nd Half, 30'
Dabang Delhi KC 25 - 29 Haryana Steelers

Is the Siddharth Desai of previous seasons back?
Escapes from Ashu Malik's attempted ankle hold and rides the challenge from Himmat Antil, breezing past the mid-line to restore a 5-point lead to the Steelers. However, Naveen Kumar continues to wage his lone battle, teasing Jaideep into a tackle that he easily escapes from, as Delhi trail by 4, heading into the 2nd strategic timeout of the match.

This is anyone's game, who will come up trumps in the endgame?
2nd Half, 29'
Dabang Delhi KC 24 - 27 Haryana Steelers

Manjeet, who was subbed on for Meetu, relieving some pressure off Naveen, evading Rahul Sethpal's tackle with an acrobatic jump. Naveen Kumar then puts in a razor-fast toe touch on Mohit.
2nd Half, 28'
Dabang Delhi KC 22 - 27 Haryana Steelers

Mohit Khaler is so high on confidence now, and is vice-like grip on Ashu Malik's dangling right foot is too good for the Delhi raider. Vishal Bhardwaj hits back with an ankle hold of his own, but the Steelers won't be bothered here if their defense can continue in the same vein.
2nd Half, 27'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 26 Haryana Steelers

The Steelers are coasting now as Mohit Nandal joins the party in this 2nd half. His 2nd tackle point of the night to take down Manjeet in a do-or-die raid for Delhi. Who'd have thought that Delhi would be trailing by 5 now?
2nd Half, 25'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 25 Haryana Steelers

2nd All-out for the Haryana Steelers who have scored 8 successive points in this 2nd half.
Siddharth Desai has been a beast when less than three defenders have been on the mat. He forces an error from one of the defenders who steps past the end-line, and claims an easy touch point on the other defender to take his team to their second all-out of the match.
2nd Half, 24'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 21 Haryana Steelers

What a turnaround this is from Haryana.
They play on the Do-or-die raid, and with no Naveen and Ashu on the mat, an out of sorts Meetu is thrown off court by a well-timed dash from Mohit Nandal. Siddharth Desai then wins a mid-line tussle with Yogesh, and guess what, the scores are level, and Delhi only have two players on court!
2nd Half, 22'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 19 Haryana Steelers

Siddharth Desai has looked much more comfortable as a right raider going up against the left corner, and he gets a hefty back kick on Vishal Bhardwaj, reducing the deficit to two.
2nd Half, 21'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 18 Haryana Steelers

Ashish with a crucial diving knee hold to send Naveen Kumar back to the bench for the first time in this match. Haryana are well in this match now!
Half-Time
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 17 Haryana Steelers

The Haryana Steelers may well be the most resilient team in the league, because after launching a comeback after Bharat's 5-point raid yesterday, they recovered from an all-out under five minutes and a 11-point deficit early on and trail only by 4 points heading into half-time.

A lot of credit should go to Vinay, whose Super Raid turned this game around, with Siddharth Desai proving too good in the Super Tackle situations. In defense, Mohit has chipped in with a couple of useful tackle points, but the rest of the team needs to step up.

For Delhi, Naveen Kumar has been unstoppable, with 9 raid points in eight raids, with Ashu and Meetu having two raid points apiece. Himmat Antil has had a great game on the defensive front so far, but the others, especially Mohit in the right cover, need to come alive in the 2nd 20 minutes.
1st Half, 20'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 17 Haryana Steelers

The Steelers have done really well to comeback from another early setback, and they have all the momentum going into half-time and it shows as Mohit successfully executes an audacious back hold to get rid of Ashu Malik.
1st Half, 19'
Dabang Delhi KC 21 - 16 Haryana Steelers

Siddharth Desai gets an easy point in a 1v2 situation, but Naveen Kumar is still available to raid for Delhi, and he stuns Mohit with a sliding toe touch on Mohit. However, this time, Siddharth Desai ensures he gets both the defenders, and the Steelers hit back with an all-out of their own.
Delhi down to two, and could fall to an all-out as two defenders are subbed in for Naveen and Meetu.
1st Half, 17'
Dabang Delhi KC 18 - 11 Haryana Steelers

Vinay may have brought the Steelers back into the game.
It's a Super Raid for the Steelers' lead raider, who appears to have been ushered off court, but the referees contend that he had some part of his body in the lobby when he crossed the mid-line.

Dabang Delhi review. It looks like the on-field call will remain as Vinay appears to have crossed the mid-line with his left thigh still in the lobby.

Review unsuccessful! Delhi lose their review. In their defense, it was a really close call.
1st Half, 16'
Dabang Delhi KC 18 - 8 Haryana Steelers

Himmat may have been a bit too carried away and puts in an advance tackle that Ashish evades with ease.
1st Half, 14'
Dabang Delhi KC 18 - 6 Haryana Steelers

Himmat Antil looks like a special talent.
The left cover puts in a block on Siddharth Desai close to the mid-line, and shows tremendous strength in hauling the towering raider back onto the mat to get his 3rd tackle point of the match.
1st Half, 12'
Dabang Delhi KC 17 - 5 Haryana Steelers

Ashish comes in with the tackle, the first of the night for the Steelers, and they'll hope this can get them going. Siddharth Desai follows up, and a self-out from Yogesh gifts the Steelers another point. However, Naveen Kumar pulls one back with a quick raid, escaping from Mohit's attempted ankle hold in the left corner.

To cap a busy restart to the game, Vinay thinks he has gotten to the mid-line after escaping from Himmat's back hold, but the rest of the Delhi defense judge the situation well and help pull the raider back, restoring their 11-point lead.
1st Half, 10'
Dabang Delhi KC 15 - 4 Haryana Steelers

A solid ankle hold from Himmat Antil in the Delhi left corner sends Vinay back to the bench as the first strategic timeout comes around. A breathless first five minutes followed by a quieter phase of play, but only one side has dominated thus far, and it's Naveen Kumar's Dabang Delhi KC. A 11-point lead for them 1/4th of a way into this match. Can the Steelers mount a comeback?
1st Half, 8'
Dabang Delhi KC 13 - 4 Haryana Steelers

Ashish picks up a rare point for the Steelers in this first half with a swift toe touch on Vishal Bhardwaj. Vinay then follows it up with a neat escape from an advanced challenge from the error-prone Delhi right cover Mohit.
1st Half, 6'
Dabang Delhi KC 12 - 2 Haryana Steelers

Vishal Bhardwaj and Meetu open their accounts for the night on opposite ends of the court, with Vinay getting tackled by the former and Siddharth Desai getting tagged by the latter.
1st Half, 5'
Dabang Delhi KC 10 - 2 Haryana Steelers

Dabang Delhi have an all-out in a flash, and they look more like the team that lost to the UP Yoddhas than the one that beat the Bulls!

Naveen Kumar is the architect, and with Haryana down to four, he tags Ashish before cleaning up the remaining three on the next raid. Jaideep steps out of bounds, and with only two defenders on the mat, Naveen capitalizes on the ongoing chaos to help his side take a huge early lead.
1st Half, 3'
Dabang Delhi KC 4 - 2 Haryana Steelers

Multi-point raid to start things off for Ashu Malik. The diving ankle hold comes in from the right-in, and what was set to be a one-point raid as Ashu got to the mid-line became two when Mohit Nandal misjudged the tackle and gifted a point. Ashu then follows that up with a terrific ankle hold on Siddharth Desai.
1st Half, 1'
Dabang Delhi KC 1 - 1 Haryana Steelers

Vinay starts this Northern derby for the Steelers and opens the match with a running hand touch on the right cover Mohit. Naveen Kumar responds with a bonus point of his own.
Toss: Dabang Delhi win the toss and choose court. It'll be the Steelers who'll put in the first raid.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League 2023. The 17th match of PKL 10 is a Northern derby, with Dabang Delhi KC taking on Haryana Steelers at the Shree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru.

It's a case of two teams on the back of morale-boosting wins looking to extend this into a proper winning run, but only one of them can do so. Dabang Delhi KC were well beaten by the Tamil Thalaivas in their opening encounter, but led by a stellar raiding effort from Naveen Kumar and Ashu Malik, bounced back brilliantly in a 38-31 win against the Bengaluru Bulls. The PKL season 8 champions will want to continue this dominant run for as long as possible.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Steelers were thrashed by the UP Yoddhas in their first match, losing 57-27 in a crushing defeat. To make matters worse, Bulls raider Bharat picked up 5 points in the first raid of their very next match, but Jaideep Dahiya and co. showed real character and steel (pun intended), to hit back and dominate most of the match. Their defensive performance was one of the best we've seen so far in PKL 10, with both Jaideep and left corner Mohit Khaler scoring High 5s, with their raiders aiding the defenders' efforts with handy raid points when required.

Both these sides have played out some really thrilling and memorable encounters in the past, and we should be in for an exciting game of kabaddi.
