Gujarat Giants 36 - 45 Jaipur Pink Panthers

That 9-point difference in the scoreline doesn't do justice to how much Jaipur dominated this match because apart from the last ten minutes and a brief period after their 1st all-out, the Giants were completely outplayed by Jaipur, with their bench strength flexing their muscles tonight.

Despite making a few errors, left corner Sumit had a great outing, putting in some amazing tackles to get to his High 5, while Shubham Shelke was tackled only once in a great supporting act to Arjun Deshwal, who as usual, impressed with another Super 10.

For the Giants, Jitender Yadav's confident handling of Arjun in the 2nd half is a huge positive, and he could find himself getting brought on a substitute in defensive situations a lot after this. Parteek Dahiya was probably the best raider on the night, and it was his twin Super Raids that brought Gujarat back into the game, allowing them to finish the game with a more respectable score.

We saw a quality game of kabaddi despite it being a dead rubber, but that's just part 1 of what we have in store today! Up next, the hosts Haryana Steelers, one of the only two sides to beat the Puneri Paltan this season, square off against them once more, in front of their home fans, in what should be an epic contest!

So click here to switch tabs and catch the live coverage of that match as I, Shreyas, bid you adieu. Good Night!
2nd Half, 40'
Gujarat Giants 36 - 45 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Well, a host of empty raids follow, eventually leading to a do-or-die raid for Jagdeep.

Sumit is keen on securing his High 5, and his conviction with the dash alone was enough to send Jagdeep flying, but he had a little too much pace as he also goes out of bounds with that attempt. He won't mind, however, as it's a well-made High 5 for the young left corner.

Arkam Shaikh then dashes Navneet off court in Jaipur's do-or-die raid. In the final raid, Shubham Shelke bookends this match with a routine touch point to secure a 9-point win for the Jaipur Pink Panthers.
2nd Half, 37'
Gujarat Giants 34 - 43 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Normalcy restored for Jaipur who find their footing immediately after the timeout. First, Sahul Kumar dives in with a solid ankle hold in a 1v4 situation to get the better of Parteek Dahiya before Arjun Deshwal masterfully cuts his way through the right cover's attempted block-dash in a do-or-die raid.

Ohh, wait! Spoke too soon. Nitin first invites the error from Sunil Kumar, who's deputizing at left cover, before Jitender Yadav once again puts in a stellar ankle hold on Arjun Deshwal. We were hyping the Fazel vs Arjun battle, but Jitender has put the best raider in the league in his pocket with these ankle holds!
2nd Half, 35'
Gujarat Giants 32 - 41 Jaipur Pink Panthers

What did Coach Ram Mehar Singh say during that timeout because Gujarat have come out flying post the break! Parteek Dahiya scores his 14th raid point of the night as Reza Mirbagheri's slip concedes yet another cheap point.

Jaipur have only 4 on the mat now, and if they slip to another all-out, they could lose control of this match. Right on cue, a timeout is called by the Pink Panthers.
2nd Half, 34'
Gujarat Giants 31 - 41 Jaipur Pink Panthers

That's a High 5 for Sahul Kumar as he does really well to get the better of Nitin.

At the other end, Jitender Yadav goes 2/2 against Arjun after the break, nailing the ankle hold once again against the in-form raider. The substitute Jagdeep then follows it up with a multi-point raid, escaping from Sumit's ankle hold while also getting a bonus.

That should put a smile on coach Ram Mehar Singh's face.
2nd Half, 32'
Gujarat Giants 28 - 40 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Jitender Yadav nails the ankle hold to get Arjun Deshwal but not before the star raider picks up the bonus point.

Ohh, what a raid that is from Parteek Dahiya!

He's a unique raider, is Parteek, as he's not the quickest, nor is he a beast like Siddharth Desai, but he's really smart, and is so assured on court, and he dances his way through the Jaipur defense to get another Super Raid. Sahul and Shubham came in with the chain tackle from the right, but he goes through them, also getting Navneet on the way.

Jaipur is down to one, and Reza Mirbagheri is brought down by the substitute Arkam Shaikh's dash as Gujarat inflict an all-out of their own.
Plenty of substitutions in the break, with Deepak Singh and Balaji D getting a breather for the Giants.
2nd Half, 30'
Gujarat Giants 21 - 38 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Arjun Deshwal adds to his tally with another terrific escape from Deepak Singh's dash. Credit to the right cover for he times it well and charges with plenty of power, but Arjun is just a bit quicker, and uses the lobby to perfection.

However, even as then rest of the Giants have failed to show up today, Parteek Dahiya continues to shine, picking up a Super Raid as he gets the bonus, and escapes from Sumit's ankle hold, also getting a touch on Sunil Kumar through to the mid-line, and that's his Super 10.

The whistle blows for the timeout, and we've had more of the same post half-time. Can Gujarat have a good last 10 minutes and finish this match on a high to boost their confidence?
2nd Half, 28'
Gujarat Giants 18 - 37 Jaipur Pink Panthers

3rd all-out
of the night for Jaipur, and they've dominated proceedings post half-time as well. Shubham Shelke comes out on top in the 1v2 situation before Sunil Kumar puts in the block on the substitute Jagdeep to complete the all-out.
2nd Half, 26'
Gujarat Giants 17 - 33 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Sahul Kumar gets his 4th tackle point of the night with a solid chain tackle on Sonu, and just like that Gujarat is down to two. Arjun Deshwal goes in to clean them up once more, but Deepak Singh stands in his way. He gets plenty of support from Balaji D and they get the Super Tackle and avoid the all-out.

Well, not for long, as Deepak Singh tries his hand at raiding once again, but ends up handing his foot to a grateful Sumit, who converts it into an ankle hold with ease.
2nd Half, 24'
Gujarat Giants 15 - 31 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Nitin has plenty of pace to spare in a do-or-die raid, but he doesn't appear to have a plan in his raid, and the Jaipur defense smartly stay away, allowing the clock to run down before he steps into the lobby on his own.

Arjun Deshwal has a do-or-die raid of his own, and he makes the most of Jitender Yadav's weak challenge to get to his Super 10.
2nd Half, 22'
Gujarat Giants 15 - 29 Jaipur Pink Panthers

2 brilliant tackles get this 2nd half going, and first, it's Sahul Kumar, who looks up for it tonight, putting in a well-timed diving double knee hold to trap Parteek Dahiya.

Deepak Singh then becomes the first defender to get the better of Shubham Shelke tonight, converting his dash into a block, covering the angle to prevent the raider from executing a quick turn.
Well, surprise, surprise, Fazel Atrachali has been subbed off at half-time! That's a surprising decision if there ever was one, unless it's just to give their captain a rest.
Half-Time
Gujarat Giants 14 - 28 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Barring Parteek Dahiya, no Gujarat player has been upto the mark tonight, and the scoreline reflects just that as Jaipur has been on top right from the start.

Shubham Shelke got them going with a stellar two-point opening raid, and he has been riding on that high so far, scoring 6 points in as many raids without getting tackled once. He has proved to be an ideal support raider to Arjun Deshwal, who has already raced to 9 points for the night. Sumit in the left corner has also been super-impressive, scoring three tackle points.

Gujarat needs to tighten up in defense, and they'll hope that the Sultan's tackle right before half-time gets him and the rest of the defense going. They also need to step up in the raiding department and support Parteek Dahiya.
1st Half, 20'
Gujarat Giants 14 - 28 Jaipur Pink Panthers

This Sumit is some talent,
I tell you! Second time tonight he has pulled off a solo back hold, and it's an incredibly difficult skill to execute, but the Jaipur left corner blindsides Sonu completely with that one.

Arjun Deshwal then races across the court to get the running hand touch on Sombir to pull ahead of Ashu Malik and go top of the raiders' charts with that raid.

Parteek Dahiya gets Sumit with the kick once again, and Fazel Atrachali finally joins the party with a well-timed ankle hold to trap Arjun Deshwal right at the stroke of half-time.

Two all-outs and complete domination from Jaipur so far, but Gujarat definitely has it in them to hit back. An exciting 2nd half awaits.
1st Half, 18'
Gujarat Giants 11 - 26 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Immediately after the all-out, Arjun Deshwal adds to his tally with another solid raid, escaping from Jitender Yadav's attempted ankle hold and Deepak Singh's dash by using the lobby well, but Jaipur also review for a bonus point.

However, replays show that he was nowhere close to getting one, and Jaipur burn their review early.

Parteek Dahiya pulls one back for the Giants with a running hand touch on Sunil Kumar, but Shubham Shelke continues his incredible game, once again disguising his toe touch to confound the left-in.
1st Half, 16'
Gujarat Giants 10 - 23 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Arjun Deshwal is so comfortable in 1v2 situations, and he does well to reduce the Giants to one, but a silly challenge from Lucky Sharma allows Deepak Singh to escape with a bonus+point.

Once again, Arjun corners a defender to reduce the Giants to one, but this time around, Sumit's diving ankle hold gets the job done, but it was a pretty scrappy tackle.

Jaipur won't mind, though, as they get their 2nd all-out of the match.
1st Half, 14'
Gujarat Giants 7 - 18 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Shubham Shelke has terrorized this Gujarat defense today, and even the Sultan appears to have no answer. His pace and change of direction even for Fazel, and he extends Jaipur's lead even further.

Arjun Deshwal joins the party too, picking up a routine touch point on Balaji D in the left corner. With Gujarat down to three, they have a do-or-die raid, and Sahul Kumar shows why he's on the mat, with a mighty block to stop Sonu Jaglan, and Jaipur close in on another all-out.
1st Half, 12'
Gujarat Giants 7 - 15 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Shubham Shelke has had a stellar evening so far, and his confidence is showing as he puts in a well-disguised kick to catch the left-in Rohan Singh napping to bring about a revival. Sahul Kumar then puts in a well-timed double knee hold on Parteek Dahiya, and post the timeout, Jaipur is back on top.
Rakesh HS's poor run continues, and coach Ram Mehar Singh has seen enough, subbing him off to bring the super-sub Sonu Jaglan on. Sombir also comes in for Manuj in the right corner.
1st Half, 10'
Gujarat Giants 7 - 13 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Gujarat does well to slow the game down and stop the onslaught, but when Shubham Shelke comes in for the do-or-die-raid, his kick on the run catches Deepak Singh by surprise.

However, Parteek has a do-or-die raid immediately after, and he forces the error from Lucky Sharma to once again reduce Jaipur to four. Make that three, as Parteek is oozing confidence today. It's a 1v4 situation and not easy to raid, but he moves around the court with purpose and authority, and effortlessly gets a hefty touch on the opposition captain.

The whistle blows for the timeout, and led by Parteek Dahiya, Gujarat have recovered well from that horror start. Jaipur is down to three now, and need to avoid the all-out.
1st Half, 8'
Gujarat Giants 5 - 12 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Well, Parteek Dahiya isn't letting the previous raid faze him, pulling out the reverse kick and nailing the execution to claim the touch on Sumit. Jaipur down to 4 now.
1st Half, 6'
Gujarat Giants 4 - 12 Jaipur Pink Panthers

What a tackle that is from the new left corner Sumit! The in-form Giants' raider Parteek Dahiya is absolutely blindsided by a monstrous backhold from Sumit. No support necessary.

Well, finally the Giants get some momentum their way as Rakesh HS does well to get away from Sunil Kumar's advance tackle. It's followed by a solid chain tackle from Manuj and Parteek in the Giants' right side to trap Arjun Deshwal.
1st Half, 4'
Gujarat Giants 1 - 10 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Less than three minutes into the match, and we have the first all-out already. Gujarat were down to two, and Arjun has it easy in a 1v2 situation. Rohan Singh comes into raid, and Reza Mirbagheri makes no mistake with his stellar block to put Jaipur 9-0 up.

Arjun Deshwal then gets an easy bonus point before Parteek Dahiya does the same to open the Giants' account for the night.
1st Half, 2'
Gujarat Giants 0 - 5 Jaipur Pink Panthers

Well, well, it's Shubham Shelke who puts in the first raid for Jaipur, and he does brilliantly to come away with a two-point raid. He shrugs off Fazel Atrachali's ankle hold like it's nothing, and also evades the dash from Deepak Singh. Not often you get away from that combo.

Rakesh HS then comes into raid, and the cover combination of Sunil Kumar and Reza Mirbagheri put in the perfect chain tackle to trap him.

V Ajith Kumar then follows it up with an electric raid, in a 1v4 situation, getting a touch point on Parteek Dahiya, and capitalizes on an unaware Balaji D in the left corner to get another 2-point raid.

Less than 2 minutes in and Jaipur are 5-0 up already.
Toss Update: Gujarat Giants win the toss and choose court. Jaipur to raid first.
