37-17 in favor of the Paltan was the scoreline the last time these two sides met, so with that in mind, Gujarat might actually walk away from this match feeling a bit better about the final score as it easily could've been this bad the way they played in the 1st half.

However, an inspired Fazel Atrachali and Mohammad Nabibakhsh helped them outscore the Paltan in the 2nd half, and with around a minute left to play, they reduced the deficit to seven points only for a ruthless Mohammadreza Chiyaneh to take a bonus point and execute a Super Tackle right at the end.

Pune's terrific first half performance proved to be the difference between the two teams, with them taking a 22-9 lead into half-time, with both their raiders and defense firing. Pankaj Mohite and Mohit Goyat led the raiding department, with Aslam and Shadloui also getting some handy points.

The Puneri Paltan juggernaut rolls on despite a minor hiccup last time around against Jaipur. As for Gujarat, they might just brush this defeat off as one against a significantly better team and work more on their raiding ahead of their next match. Mohammadreza Chiyaneh is a real competitor, and when most raiders will be content putting in empty raids at these times, he goes and gets the bonus point to increase Gujarat's deficit to 8.

In the last raid of the match, Parteek Dahiya knows he has to score a point to help his team take something away, but he seems clueless on what to do in a 1v3 situation, and it's Mohammadreza Chiyaneh who wins that battle, with another solid diving ankle hold to close the match out, also getting to his High 5.

Despite a better second-half performance, Gujarat couldn't affect this game much and it's a walk in the park yet again for the Paltan.

2nd Half, 39'
Gujarat Giants 24 - 31 Puneri Paltan

Mohammad Nabibakhsh is absolutely turning it on here. Do-or-die raid for Pankaj Mohite and Nabibakhsh in the left-in makes no mistake when Pankaj attempts a bonus under his nose.

As it stands, Gujarat will take away a point from this match, and they call a timeout, with just about a minute to play!

Gujarat Giants 23 - 31 Puneri Paltan

Mohammad Nabibakhsh is a clutch player, and he has proven that on multiple occasions in the PKL. He turns on the afterburners and gets down low to get a running hand touch on Gaurav Khatri, and Sanket Sawant's dash sends him flying, but Nabibakhsh manages to get his hand over the mid-line before tumbling out.

Or has he? Pune seem adamant that the raider is out and review, while Nabibakhsh insists it's a 2-point raid. The review is unsuccessful, and suddenly the deficit is down to 8. Gujarat could get a point here!

2nd Half, 38'
Gujarat Giants 21 - 31 Puneri Paltan

Fazel Atrachali has come alive in this 2nd half, and Pankaj Mohite knows he's had and doesn't even try to escape when the Sultan gets ahold of his ankle in a Super Tackle situation. With the deficit down to ten, a raid point could've gotten them back with a sniff, but that's been the problem for them today, and Nitin can't escape from Mohammadreza Chiyaneh's tackle.

Finally, some success from that on that front as Mohammad Nabibakhsh draws a weak challenge from Aslam Inamdar in the right-in.

2nd Half, 36'
Gujarat Giants 18 - 30 Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan return the favor with another disciplined defensive effort, allowing Parteek Dahiya to tire himself out before Gaurav Khatri comes in with the killer blow in the right corner.

Pune seem content to kill time now, but Gujarat don't have that luxury. They need to reduce the deficit by at least five points to get something from this match, and they're running out of time to do so.

Gujarat Giants 18 - 29 Puneri Paltan

Do-or-die raid for Aslam Inamdar and he races into a pursuit in a 1v3 situation to try and hurry the Gujarat defense, but they stay disciplined and don't engage in a tackle until the last two seconds of the raid to bring him down. Once again, the deficit is at 11 as Gujarat call a timeout!

2nd Half, 32'
Gujarat Giants 16 - 29 Puneri Paltan

Another series of Do-or-die raids and both of them go the way of the Paltan. First up, it's Pankaj Mohite who does brilliantly to leap over Deepak Singh's challenge in a tricky 1v5 situation.

Sonu then has no chance against a monstrous back hold from Aslam Inamdar, who's filling in for Shadloui at the left corner.

2nd Half, 30'
Gujarat Giants 16 - 27 Puneri Paltan

Parteek Dahiya pulls one back for Gujarat as Mohammadreza Chiyaneh goes in with a loose challenge, but since the start of the 2nd half, the deficit hasn't changed much. The whistle blows for the timeout, and while Gujarat have slowed the game down and avoided further damage, they need to do something special to get anything from this match.

2nd Half, 29'
Gujarat Giants 15 - 27 Puneri Paltan

Shadloui gets Fazel! That has to be the moment of the match! Mohammedreza Shadloui comes in to raid, with Pune's three frontline raiders on the bench, and he uses his speed and reach to great effect, getting a hefty running hand touch on Fazel.

Ohh wait! He reviews for an unintended accidental touch point on the left-in Nitin, and guess what, he does get it on Nitin's leg. Review successful.

2nd Half, 28'
Gujarat Giants 15 - 25 Puneri Paltan

Another series of empty raids leads to another set of do-or-die raids, and Sonu Jaglan can't do much against this Pune defense, that simply doesn't seem to miss. It's Gaurav Khatri who comes in with an assured dash from the right corner.

However, at the other end, Fazel has inspired the Gujarat defense, who have delivered in the 2nd half. Sombir, the initiator this time around times his thigh hold well, and Fazel races across in support.

The deficit goes down to ten as Nitin then picks up a touch point on the opposition captain Aslam Inamdar

Gujarat Giants 13 - 24 Puneri Paltan

Fazel Atrachali makes no mistake during the Paltan's do-or-die raid with an ankle hold, but in providing support to Fazel, Deepak Singh also goes out of bounds, and a point each is awarded.

Parteek Dahiya is simply confounded in his Do-or-die raid, with Sanket Sawant putting in an assured block. At the other end, Fazel seems to be fuming that his side let go of an opportunity to gain some momentum and puts in a furious dash to assist Balaji D's tackle.

2nd Half, 22'
Gujarat Giants 11 - 22 Puneri Paltan

Coach Ram Mehar Singh will be pleased with that start to the 2nd half. Sonu Jaglan seems a bit tentative in his raid, and Abinesh Nadarajan doesn't hesitate one bit in going for the block-dash, but Sonu has the presence of mind to check his movement, create a gap, and move through that gap to the mid-line, starting the 2nd half with a 2-point raid.

HALF-TIME!! Gujarat Giants 9-22 Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan have once again played with the minds of their opponents. A 13-point lead at the end of the first half over Gujarat Giants tells you the story of how dominating the Paltans have been today. 

Everyone has contributed in Paltan's lead over the Giants. Meanwhile, Nabibakhsh has been the sole bright star for Gujarat but they need the skipper to step up in order to make a comeback.

Do or die for Puneri Paltan. It doesn't matter for Aslam escaping easily from Balaji D's dash from the left cover. 

Do or die for Gujarat as well. Contrasting results for them as Shadlou gets a back hold on Rakesh. Rakesh, almost reached the midline but timely support gives Pune a point. 

16' Gujarat Giants 8-19 Puneri Paltan

And just like that Aslam gets a bonus under right corner Sombir. 

Shadlou makes defending looks so easy. A solo back hold by Shadlou on Parteek as soon as the raider showed his back. 

14' Gujarat Giants 8-17 Puneri Paltan

A quick bonus by Sonu right under the nose of Shalou at the left corner. 

A clean jump by Aslam over Jitender Yadav at the left corner and Gujarat are left with just one man. 

ALL OUT!! Just few seconds left for Nabibakhsh and he falls into the hands of Gaurav Khatri who comes with a block from the right corner.

And now it's a do or die for Gujarat Giants. Sonu is in as a super-sub and the same result for him as well. Gets a back kick on Shadlou followed by an escape from Abinesh's dash. 

A great escape from Mohit Goyat. He is just having a day out here in Hyderabad. He was all gone after a dash by Gujarat covers but he twists and turns to reach the midline. The Giants have reviewed it though but it looks like Mohit is easily safe. Yes, he is and Pune gets two points. 

10' Gujarat Giants 4-11 Puneri Paltan

A series of empty raids and it's a do-or-die for Pune. And what a raid by Mohit Goyat. First escapes from an ankle hold by Fazel at the left corner followed by a narrow escape from Sombir's dash. 

9' Gujarat Giants 4-9 Puneri Paltan

Another one for Pankaj. Deepak, with an advance block from the right cover, gives away an easy point to Pune. 

It's a perfect trap by Pune to get Rakesh. The raider attempts a bonus under left in and immediately Abinesh pounces on him with a block. 

7' Gujarat Giants 4-7 Puneri Paltan

What a back-hold by Shadlou. Pure Strength. Parteek shows his bac and Shadlou runs towards him to get his back and pin Parteek down. 

A quick bonus by Pankaj under the right corner. 

5' Gujarat Giants 4-5 Puneri Paltan

A multi-point raid by Parteek Dahiya. Gaurav and Aslam come with a chain from the right corner but Parteek with a Dubki goes under them easily. 

A perfect ankle hold by Sultan Fazel at the left corner. Mohit tries a bonus under him, gets one but is tackled by Fazel.

Another point for Pune. This time it's Pankaj Monhite who jumps over Deepak Singh at the right corner. 

First point of the day for Gujarat. Nabibakhsh gets a running kick on Gaurav Khatri at the right corner. 

A quick raid by Mohit. Twists and turns followed by a running hand touch on the right cover, Balaji D.

A flyings start for the Paltan as he gets a flying hand touch on Sombir at the right corner. 

Meanwhile, Mohit Goyat, from the left-in dashes out Rakesh who was attempting a running hand touch on the right corner.

Welcome to Sportskeeda’s coverage of the 10th edition of the Pro Kabaddi League. The Gujarat Giants take on the Puneri Paltan in the 2nd fixture of this Super Sunday at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad. 

The Puneri Paltan are back in action after a well-deserved 8-day break and will want to regain the top spot from the Jaipur Pink Panthers. Aslam Inamdar’s side were last in action against Jaipur, suffering a narrow 36-34 defeat, only their second of the season.

The Gujarat Giants, meanwhile, enter this match after beating Dabang Delhi KC 31-26 on Wednesday, ending the latter’s 9-game unbeaten run. Fazel Atrachali’s team are placed 4th on the points table, but were well beaten by the Paltan in the reverse fixture. They’ll want to hit back and look to move up the points table with a win here.
