FULL TIME! Haryana Steelers 50 - 34 U.P. Yoddhas

The Haryana Steelers strengthen their playoffs chances and it has been a comprehensive, complete team performance today against the Yoddhas, who seemed pretty lacklustre but had some individual moments of brilliance. All members of the Steelers contributing to the win but it was twin Super 10s of Shivam Patare and Vinay which stole the show. Hopefully, this will go a long way in helping the Steelers decide on a settled raiding combination. As for the Yoddhas, it was pretty much a result along expected lines. They tried to make the most of the opportunity by trying out youngsters, out of which it was Mahipal and Gagan Gowda who impressed. 

40' Samuel Wafula runs straight into the right corner Rahul Sethpal's double thigh hold and he is pinned down! Do-or-die raid for the Steelers on the other side and Vinay shoulders responsibility. Gets a touch on the right cover and returns with a point.

Gagan Gowda is tackled! He escapes from Ashish's attempted ankle hold but on his way back, the cover defender runs around and dashes him out! Vinay runs around and gets a hand touch on Nitesh Kumar. On the other side, Samuel Wafula fails to stop himself from stepping into the lobby after picking up pace and is self out.

Mahipal finishes with a couple of points as Jaideep and Mohit try an advance combination tackle but fail as the raider quickly escapes.

Haryana Steelers 50 - 34 U.P. Yoddhas

38' SUPER RAID! Gagan Gowda delivers a blow! Escapes from the left corner's ankle hold following which both covers run around for assistance. However, Gagan turns around his entire body and crosses the mid-line with his foot.

36' Gagan Gowda tries to bulldoze his way back to the mid-line but the covers combine and send him packing out of bounds. Mahipal picks up a bonus point in front of the right corner defender.

Do-or-die raid for the Steelers and it is a SUPER RAID by Vinay! Puts in a kick on the left corner, while the left-in tries an ankle hold but fails. The right cover runs around for assistance but Vinay uses the lobby and escapes!

Shivam Patare runs around and gets a hand touch on Harendra Kumar in the left corner. On the other side, the Yoddhas raider is tackled courtesy of a splendid ankle hold. ALL OUT! A surrender raid as the last remaining Yoddhas defender pushes back the Steelers raider.

32' Sunny Sehrawat tries a half-hearted attempt on Mahipal, who escapes in a flash. On the other side, a solid ankle hold from the right-in defender brings Vinay down.

ALL OUT! Mohit Nandal tries a solo tackle on Mahipal but fails as Mahipal escapes and returns with a point. On the other side, Harendra Kumar puts in a solid thigh hold with immobilises Shivam Patare. Gagan Gowda reduces the deficit with a bonus point.

30' A running hand touch from Vinay and he sends back Ashu from the right cover. A sliding toe-touch from Gagan Gowda and he gets the better of the Steelers' left corner.

28' Shivam Patare snaps up the bonus point following which he is dashed out from the left cover defender. However, Haryana Steelers review! The bonus is clean. However, Shivam's hand did not cross the mid-line on the first attempt but on the second attempt, he crossed it from outside the mat. Review unsuccessful! 

Mahipal, on the other hand, goes deep and gets a hand touch on the left corner, reducing the Steelers down to two men. Vinay picks up a bonus point in front of the right corner.

SUPER TACKLE! Mohit Nandal with a terrific double ankle hold and Vinay runs around for assistance. Mahipal is brought down and he surrenders comfortably.

26' Do-or-die raid for the Steelers and Vinay perishes! He runs out of time and eventually goes down to an ankle hold from the right-in Harendra Kumar. Do-or-die raid for the Yoddhas on the other side and Mahipal snaps up a bonus point in front of the left corner defender.

Siddharth Desai is pinned down as he runs straight into the block of the covers. On the other side, Mahipal runs around and gets a running hand touch on Jaideep in the left corner. Shivam Patare picks up a bonus point in front of the right-in defender.

Shivam Patare, on the other side, picks up pace and gets a running hand touch on Sumit in the left corner. A reverse kick from Mahipal and it is Rahul Sethpal who has to visit the bench.

A 15-point lead for the Steelers and they are comfortably cruising along in this contest. It was one-way traffic right from the very beginning, where the Steelers inflicted an all out on the Yoddhas minutes into the first half. The game has continued with a similar pace as despite some decent efforts by the Yoddhas, it has been the Steelers who have managed to keep taking points and will. Shivam Patare has starred, with 8 points under his belt already, and will certainly be hungry for more. It will be interesting to see whether the Steelers will continue picking up the points or whether the Yoddhas will attempt any comeback from here on. Stay tuned!

Gagan Gowda is claiming a touch on the left corner Naveen but none is given. However, UP Yoddhas review! It is a very very close matter. Seems to be the slightest of touches on Naveen's jersey. However, the TV umpire does not believe so. Review unsuccessful!

18' Gagan Gowda uses the lobby as he escapes from Mohit Nandal's attempted dash and picks up a point!

Vinay goes deep and gets a hand touch on Harendra Kumar in the left corner. On the other side, Gagan Gowda is pinned down! A diving double ankle hold from Naveen and it is Rahul Sethpal who comes for assistance in a flash to bring down Gagan.

Shivam Patare with a sliding toe-touch and he sends back the right corner Nitesh Kumar. On the other side, Ashu is the last man standing once again. He picks up the bonus following which, a diving double ankle hold from the covers brings him down!

U.P. Yoddhas 12 - 24 Haryana Steelers

16' Do-or-die raid for the Steelers and Shivam Patare comes in for it in a defense of three. He leaps over the left corner Sumit's attempted double thigh hold and returns.

SUPER TACKLE! Shivam Patare is tackled! Harendra Kumar with a solid grip on Shivam's thigh while his other hand wraps around his neck. Single-handedly pins him down.

Do-or-die raid for the Yoddhas on the other hand and Mahipal is tackled as Jaideep runs around and dashes him out!

SUPER TACKLE! Siddharth Desai ends up stepping into the lobby before any contact is made with the incoming defender.

U.P. Yoddhas 10 - 18 Haryana Steelers

12' Nitesh Kumar, who was substituted in, has to return to the bench as his advance ankle hold attempt on Vinay is to no avail, who returns with a crucial point.

Do-or-die raid for the Yoddhas and Shivam Choudhary has been substituted in for it. However, as soon as he tries an ankle hold, a terrific ankle hold from Rahul Sethpal brings him down.

10' Siddharth Desai runs around and gets a running hand touch on Sumit in the left corner. A bonus point is snapped up by Gagan Gowda. Vinay is off to the bench again as a terrific back hold from Gurdeep sends him packing.

He looks pretty dazed and is substituted out.

ALL OUT! Ashu is allowed the bonus point following which a solid ankle hold from the left corner brings down the raider. Not the best of attempts but he gets the job done.

4' Siddharth Desai pushes aside a tentative Sumit, who was not very sure about the tackle and put in a meek attempt in the end. On the other side, a solid block from Mohit from the covers along with assistance brings down Gagan Gowda.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. The 112th match of the tournament will witness Haryana Steelers lock horns with the UP Yoddhas at the Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata. 

The Haryana Steelers have had a stellar campaign. They do not have the biggest of names in their ranks but have all given their absolute best whenever they have taken the mat. They find themselves placed sixth and this will be their final game before their home leg, where they will play four matches. It will be important for them to take some momentum into the home leg and a win today will be absolutely essential for it. 

The UP Yoddhas, on the other hand, stand eliminated. They are only the second team to be officially eliminated and have nothing to lose now. They can, however, spoil the party for the Steelers. Ardent fans of the Yoddhas have been mighty disappointed as they have not seen Pardeep Narwal as much as they would have wanted to, and today might just see the Record Breaker take the mat again for the entire contest. The team will be looking forward to trying out some youngsters and NYPs which they could retain next season.
