FULL TIME! Jaipur Pink Panthers 33 - 37 Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan have avenged their loss from the finals of Season 9, and in style as well! A fantastic turnaround from the Paltan after trailing at the end of the first half. They inflicted two all outs in the second half to assume the lead and from there on, did not give anything away. Their raiders made sure that they maintained the lead and Sahul Kumar in the right corner especially became an easy target for them. 

Jaipur Pink Panthers lacked a third raider today and Rahul Chaudhari's run around the mat was not making the cut for them. They tried Bhavani Rajput in the second half but he did not taste too much success as well. Their defense was lacking as well. Smart planning by the Paltan to avoid Ankush in the left corner, who was kept out of the game completely. Ankush and Reza both finished with zero tackle points today. 

Aslam Inamdar stars with a super 10 while Mohit Goyat chipped in with 8 points, including two terrific ankle holds in defense. Shadlu made an impact of sorts in his debut outing for the Paltan, racking up 4 tackle points and the rest of the defense chipped in as well. A dream start to their campaign for the Puneri Paltan while Jaipur Pink Panthers have a few matters to ponder over before their next match. 

40' Gaurav Khatri stands a little advance and gives a comfortable point to Ajith Kumar. And that will be it!

40' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Mohit Goyat comes in for it. However, he perishes! It is a SUPER TACKLE! Mohit runs out of time and he is diving around. The three defenders pile on top of him and it is a super tackle!

A four point deficit for the Puneri Paltan against the defending champions but armed with a young squad, they will surely be eyeing a comeback in the second half. It started well for the Paltan, with them having taken a good lead. They were on the verge of inflicting an all-out but matters changed very quickly from there on. The Pink Panthers regrouped and, courtesy of some stupendous play, ended up defending against it and inflicting an all out on the Paltan instead. Arjun Deshwal has been simply terrific today and has gotten the better of Mohammadreza Shadlu on multiple occasions. He has raced to eight raid points in the first half itself and will be looking to complete his super ten soon. An exciting second half awaits us! Which team will emerge on top? Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. The fifth encounter will witness a repeat of the Season 9 final as Puneri Paltan lock horns with the Jaipur Pink Panthers at the Arena by Transstadia, Ahmedabad. 

Puneri Paltan have only bolstered their side after the PKL Auction. They went in with a big budget despite having retained most of their players. They had their eyes set on one player and despite his price, managed to snap him up. Having acquired the services of Mohammadreza Shadloui, the Paltan have added a strong left corner who's raiding prowess is not unknown. 

While the rest of the unit still features superstars like Mohit Goyat and skipper Aslam Inamdar, Pune have as many as five top quality raiders who can break down the oppositions' defense. Their defense bears a strong look too and with all players in decent form at National Games, Pune definitely start off as favourites for this season. 

Jaipur Pink Panthers, similarly, retained most of their team ahead of the auction. However, with the players falling under the more established categories and not being NYPs, the Pink Panthers had lesser than a crore to spend at the auction. While not buying any big names, the Jaipur outfit has done well to pick suitable back-ups. 

The Pink Panthers will be expected to start with the same team that they played with last year. However, they must make sure that there aren't any injuries to the regulars, especially Arjun Deshwal, without whom the raiding attack might not bear as menacing a look. It will be interesting to see if Rahul Chaudhari starts this season after being bought-back by the Pink Panthers in the auction.
