A neck-to-neck game and in the end, it is the Puneri Paltan who hold their nerves and emerge victorious. It was a game which was won in a very un-Puneri Paltan manner. They were more focused on their defense prowess today and ensured that they slowed down the pace of the game when they were in the lead. Credit to the Tamil Thalaivas, they kept themselves in the game courtesy of the super tackles and did not concede an all out. After a freak injury to Sahil Gulia, it was Nitesh who subbed in and put in two tackles. It was a complete team effort for the Puneri Paltan, with Shadloui being their highest-scorer with 8 points, a High 5 and 3 points in raid. An edge-of-the-seat thriller and the Puneri Paltan continue their unbeaten streak. 

40' With just four seconds left on the clock, Nitesh puts in an empty raid and returns. Aslam Inamdar puts in a pursuit in a do-or-die raid for them and claims a touch on Nitesh. He runs down the clock and returns. Oh wait! No touch has been awarded! Super Tackle for the Thalaivas and the match will be tied!

However, Puneri Paltan review! They want the touch and Aslam is mighty confident of having gotten it. What a finish this is turning out to be to this absolute cracker of a contest. The TV umpire takes his time and after a long, hard look, rules in favour of the Puneri Paltan. There was a touch there indeed and Nitesh is out. Puneri Paltan win! 

Puneri Paltan 29 - 26 Tamil Thalaivas

40' DO-OR-DIE RAID! Pankaj Mohite tried a touch Nitesh on the left corner but the defender puts in a double ankle hold. Immediate assistance ensures the tackle is unsuccessful. It is a SUPER TACKLE for the Thalaivas

A do-or-die raid for the Thalaivas and Nitin Singh fails to get a point as an ankle hold from Gaurav Khatri pulls him back just a few inches away from the mid-line.

Puneri Paltan 28 - 26 Tamil Thalaivas

38' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Akash Shinde has been substituted in for it. However, he perishes! As soon as he tries a kick on the left-in defender, Sagar runs around and with a terrific back hold, brings him down in a flash.

On the other side, it is Mohit, the defender from the Thalaivas, who goes in to raid. He picks up a bonus point but as soon as he does that, the Pune defenders converge and pin him down. It was Gaurav Khatri who came around initially from the right corner with the dash while the rest followed.

Puneri Paltan 27 - 24 Tamil Thalaivas

36' Ankle hold from Aslam from the right-in sends Narender to the bench. Tamil Thalaivas have decided to take a review for the same, a first of the day.  They appealed for a bonus point but the review was unsuccessful.


Puneri Paltan 26 - 21 Tamil Thalaivas

34' As soon as Ajinkya Pawar tries a bonus point, Gaurav Khatri puts in an iron-clad ankle hold to bring him down, reducing the Thalaivas down to three men.

Do-or-die raid for the Paltan and Mohit Goyat comes in for it in a super tackle situation. Runs out of time and in a last-minute attempt goes deep in the left side. Abishek and Sagar run around for a dash and it is Abishek who gets a back hold on Mohit to bring him down.

Puneri Paltan 25 - 21 Tamil Thalaivas

32' DO OR DIE RAID! Mohit Goyat gets a touch point of the left corner defender

Another DO-OR-DIE RAID, this time for Thalaivas and Nitin Singh gets a point after he escapes Shadlou's double ankle hold

Nitin Singh gets tackled after the defender from left corner goes for an ankle hold and sends him to the bench

Puneri Paltan 24 - 19 Tamil Thalaivas

TIMEOUT! 

30' Shadloui stands tall and it is Narender who runs straight into his double thigh hold which converts into a frontal hold. He is brought down comprehensively.

28' Mohit Goyat steps into the Thalaivas half. He tried a touch but the defender from the right corner covers up and dashes him out of the playing area. 

Pankaj Mohite too tries a touch but a double thigh hold courtesy Sagar stops him from getting a point

Puneri Paltan 21 - 18 Tamil Thalaivas

26' Shadloui strikes! And in raiding this time! SUPER RAID! He picks up a bonus point following which he writhes his foot free from Sagar's ankle hold. Gets Mohit on his way through too, who had come for assistance as he uses the lobby to escape.

On the other side, a surprise double ankle hold from the cover region traps Ajinkya Pawar. He tries to make his way to the mid-line but is pulled back by the defense.

Puneri Paltan 21 - 16 Tamil Thalaivas

25' ALL OUT! A surrender raid for the Paltan as Aslam goes in and sends back the last-remaining defender in the form of Sagar. Pune with some valuable points and they go into the lead.

Puneri Paltan 17 - 16 Tamil Thalaivas

24' A do-or-die raid for Paltan. Pankaj Mohite gets a touch point off Ajinkya Pawar and pulls a point back in his team's favour.

The threat of an all-out is looming large on the Thalaivas as Gaurav Khatri gets Himanshu ankle hold and sends him to the bench

22' SUPER TACKLE! Mohit Goyat is brought down! Sagar puts in a solid ankle hold and there is instant assistance from Himanshu! Thalaivas delay the all out.

Do-or-die raid for the Thalaivas and Ajinkya Pawar comes in for it. He snaps up a bonus point in front of Aslam in the right-in position and returns.

Puneri Paltan 12 - 14 Tamil Thalaivas

HALF TIME! Puneri Paltan 12 - 11 Tamil Thalaivas

A game which has not had too much to separate the two sides. It has been a tightly-contested game and the Tamil Thalaivas will be pretty happy with how they have gone about their business. The Puneri Paltan have been extra cautious in their approach today and have not been able to go all out as the Tamil defense has kept them quiet. Narender has picked up 4 points while from the Paltan, it has been a very collective effort. It will be interesting to see which side goes past the end-line here as the lead has changed hands constantly. Stay tuned as we will be back with live action shortly! 

20' A do-or-die raid for Paltan and Mohit Goyat takes the onus yet again. He gets a touch point off the left corner in the last raid of the half and gives his side a slender lead

Puneri Paltan 12 - 11 Tamil Thalaivas

18' Pankaj Mohite runs around and elicits an error from the Thalaivas defense as the left corner steps beyond the end-line. Another unnecessary error from the Thalaivas sees them lose a point.

Ajinkya Pawar, on the other side, snaps up a bonus point in front of the right corner defender.

Puneri Paltan 11 - 11 Tamil Thalaivas

16' A do-or-die raid for the Thalaivas. Narender goes to raid but Gaurav Khatri subdues him with a double ankle hold, with the defence covering up and assisting him

A do-or-die raid for the Paltan, with Mohit taking the onus. Sahil Gulia goes for the double ankle hold but Sahil has stepped out of bounds before going for the kill. The raider is safe and gets the point

On the other side, a sliding toe touch from Nitin Singh sends Shadlou to the bench

Puneri Paltan  10 - 10 Tamil Thalaivas

14' An advance block attempt from Shadloui is to no avail as Narender uses the lobby, turns and returns to his half.

Mohit Goyat puts in a running hand touch on M Abishek and sends him back to the bench.

Puneri Paltan 8 - 9 Tamil Thalaivas

12' Ajinkya Pawar steps into the Paltan for a crucial do-or-die raid. He is unsuccessful and a Shadlou double thigh hold sends him to the bench. The Thalaivas get a point back as Sahil Gulia sends Aslam to the bench

Puneri Paltan 7 - 8 Tamil Thalaivas

10' Do-or-die raid for the Thalaivas and Nitin Singh is tackled! A solid ankle hold from Shadloui seconds into the raid and the raider is pinned down as there is assistance immediately.

On the other side, Pankaj Mohite is brought down! Sagar runs around with a solid back hold while the other defenders surround him to bring him down. Big point!

Puneri Paltan 6 - 7 Tamil Thalaivas

8'  After a series of empty raids, the Paltan have a do-or-die raid and they are unsuccessful in getting a point. Aslam steps into the lobby and is self-out

6' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Pankaj Mohite perishes! As soon as he puts in a kick on the left-in defender, the left side of the defense runs around for a dash and sends him packing. However, it turns out Ajinkya Pawar had stepped out of bounds before the touch happened and is self out too.

Narender is pinned down! Shadloui runs around with Mohit Goyat in a chain and this time around, the duo manage to stop Narender in his tracks.

Puneri Paltan 5 - 5 Tamil Thalaivas

4' Nitin Singh goes into the Paltan half. He is proactive but a last-minute dash from Gaurav Khatri helps the Paltan add another point to their tally.

Puneri Paltan 3 - 4 Tamil Thalaivas

2' SUPER RAID! Narender with a massive first raid! Shadloui runs around with Mohit Goyat from the right corner for a tackle. Sanket Sawant joins in too. However, Narender thrusts himself towards the mid-line and escapes in a flash.

Aslam Inamdar gets Puneri Paltan up and running with a bonus point.

Ajinkya Pawar runs around, picks up pace and gets a running hand touch on Abinesh Nadarajan in the left corner.

Abishek M runs around with a dash but Pankaj Mohite back-tracks and escapes.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. The sixtieth match of the tournament will witness Puneri Paltan lock horns with the Tamil Thalaivas at the Dome @ NSCI, Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium, Mumbai. 

Puneri Paltan have had a sensational campaign so far and find themselves at the top of the points table. They have a healthy score difference as well and have just one solitary loss to the Steelers. They have a massive winning streak going on and will be looking to add to it further as they aim for another big win tonight against the Tamil Thalaivas. 

With Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat and Pankaj Mohite as their prime raiders, the Paltan bear a formidable look. They are one of the few teams who have been very aggressive in their approach and that has paid off They have a never-back-down spirit which is working out well for them and unlike others, even when they have a lead, the Paltan look only to extend it further. 

Facing the Puneri Paltan today will be Tamil Thalaivas, who have had a very opposite campaign. They find themselves placed eleventh and have only two wins to show for from their nine matches. The Thalaivas have had more problems and answers. However, it is not too late for them yet to get their campaign back on track but tonight, they face a very formidable opposition. They will not begin at favourites but will be hoping to put in a spirited performance to pull off an upset.
