FULL TIME! Patna Pirates 46 - 33 Tamil Thalaivas

Dominance from the Patna Pirates and they seal the deal to end their three-match losing streak! They have beaten the Tamil Thalaivas at their home and silenced the crowd. After having a 1-point lead at half time, they came out all guns blazing in the second half. Manjeet's substitution proved to be a masterstroke as on the back of his raids, the Pirates inflicted an all out. It was a brilliant passage of play for them in the first ten minutes of the second half as they didn't allow the Thalaivas any wiggle room and brought them on the brink of another all out. They soon inflicted the all out and went on to extend the lead. The Thalaivas were reduced to only playing for the solitary point from the match but their efforts were too little, too late. In the end, the Pirates run away with a win and a well-deserved one too. The Tamil Thalaivas will need to re-think their strategies before their game tomorrow as they look to secure a win in front of their home crowd after nearly four years.

22' Manjeet strikes as soon as he is substituted in! Escapes from the left corner's ankle hold and Sagar, who had come around for assistance, cannot complete the tackle as an airborne Manjeet flies through the air and crosses the mid-line.

And in the next raid, it is an ALL OUT! Narender is allowed the bonus but a chain tackle from Ankit Jaglan once again brings down the raider.

A slender one-point lead for the Pirates going into the second half and it has been hard-earned for them. They got off the blocks early in the first half, picking up points at east and reducing the Thalaivas down to two men on a couple of occasions. However, they failed to inflict the all out on both times and super tackles allowed the Thalaivas to make a mighty comeback. The Thalaivas chipped away at the lead easily and instead, went on to inflict an all out on the Pirates instead to take the lead. From there on, the onus was on the Pirates and they delivered well. Sudhakar led the way, picking up single points in raid while the defense contributed to erase the deficit and take a lead. It is a blockbuster to kick-off the Chennai leg for sure. Will the home team get over the line or will the Pirates end their losing streak? Stick around to find out!

12' Do-or-die raid for the Pirates and Sachin comes in for it. And he perishes! The right corner chain runs around and Sachin tries to go between them. However, Sagar gets a hold on his waist and he is brought down.

8' SUPER TACKLE! Sachin is brought down! A powerful ankle hold from Himanshu in the left corner is followed up by assistance from the right corner which brings down Sachin!

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023! Action moves to the SDAT Indoor Stadium in Chennai as the Tamil Thalaivas look to make most of the encouraging home support that they receive. And to start off their home leg, they lock horns with the Patna Pirates tonight. 

The Tamil Thalaivas have alternated between wins and losses ahead of this match. Just when it looked like they could build some momentum after a narrow 2-point win over the Telugu Titans, they went on to lose by a big margin to U Mumba. Despite Narender's 10 points and the duo of Sagar and Sahil Gulia chipping in with 5 points each, they found themselves on the losing side as they were blown away by U Mumba's raiding and defense. 

They will have definitely gone back to the drawing board after that and come up with a plan in order to commence their home leg on a winning note. They need to be wary of Sachin and Sudhakar today, who can terrorise the team similar to how the Mumba raiders did. If the Tamil Thalaivas covers can do well, the team will be all expected to finish on the winning side. 

The Patna Pirates, on the other hand, have won two games and lost three. However, what is concerning is the fact that they have lost those three on the trot prior to this contest. After making a solid start to the tournament, they have been unable to keep up the winning momentum. They were in the winning position for a long time but squandered a healthy lead to lose against the Pink Panthers. It will be interesting to see whether they can make amends and get back to winning ways today.
