FULL TIME! U Mumba 42 - 40 Panta Pirates

Just 4 successful tackles for U Mumba but they have emerged victorious over the Pirates to get back to winning ways! And that just shows how dominant the raiders have been tonight. A Super 10 for Iranian sensation Amirmohammad Zafardanesh while Visvanth and Guman Singh chipped in with 8 points each. U Mumba started the second half trailing by three points but covered up the deficit pretty quickly. They went on to inflict an all out on the Pirates, one which gave them a healthy lead. From there on, U Mumba did well to keep building on the lead and did not squander it away. We were treated to some exciting kabaddi action as the future stars of kabaddi were playing today. For the Pirates though, it was the defense that let them down while in the raiding, Sachin lacked adequate support. They will need to wait another game to get their campaign back on track. Meanwhile, U Mumba climb significantly on the points table with this win and will be mighty pleased with their performance.

A slender 3-point lead for the Patna Pirates and they have been pretty comprehensive in the latter 10 minutes of this contest. U Mumba started off well but faced an all out as the Pirates wreaked havoc. However, a super raid by Visvanth followed by a super tackle kept U Mumba afloat. The sides kept trading blows but it wasn't long before the Pirates inflicted an all out on U Mumba and levelled the score. From there, it was the Pirates who were playing with a higher intensity as they took the lead, despite Mumba trying to retaliate.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. Action moves to the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Pune where the twenty-third match of the tournament will pit U Mumba up against Patna Pirates. 

U Mumba, after making a stellar start to their tournament, have not been upto the mark in the matches that follow. A stellar win against the UP Yoddhas got the fans' hopes high but what followed was two disappointments against two strong teams in Gujarat Giants and Puneri Paltan. While the loss against the Giants was a small one, they were clinically beaten by the Pune outfit. 

U Mumba do have a plethora of talented youngsters to choose from but have just been unable to get a settled side. Their coach, Iran's Gholamreza Mazarandani, has admitted that their defense is uncoordinated. They had one of the best defences on paper after the auction but the performances have not suggested that. Plenty to do for the team as they look to get their campaign back on track today. 

Patna Pirates, on the other hand, had a good start to their campaign. They started off with a commanding 50-28 win over the Telugu Titans and followed it up with a short 3-point win over the Gujarat Giants. However, they succumbed to the Bengal Warriors, losing by a hefty margin on a day where they squandered a lead and their defense completely lost the plot. They will be eyeing a win here to get back to winning ways.
