FULL TIME! U Mumba 32 - 32 Puneri Paltan

An absolute cracker of a contest and in the end, there is absolutely nothing separating the two sides. U Mumba will feel that it's a win for them as they have managed to pull off a tie against arguably the strongest team. The Puneri Paltan made a strong comeback in the second half, inflicting an all out on U Mumba and taking a short lead. However, U Mumba, on the back of their raiding, kept reducing the points difference. Pune were banking on a one-point lead majorly but a last-minute bonus point by Pranay Rane tied the scores, after which Aslam decided to be content with three points. 

40' Mohit Goyat ventures deep and gets a point on Mukilan Shanmugan on the left in position. He ventured very deep and there was no assistance from the right side of the defense. 

Pranay Rane runs around and gets a running bonus point in front of the right-in defender. It's all tied up with 32 points apiece and 25 seconds left on the clock. 

Aslam Inamdar runs down the clock and Puneri Paltan settle for a tie.

38' Aslam Inamdar is tackled! He goes deep in the right side of the deference and Visvanth runs around with a chain for a dash. They stand tall and bring Aslam down!

Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Ekrami is tackled! A diving double thigh hold from Shadloui and Ekrami fails to return.

U Mumba 31 - 31 Puneri Paltan

36' Guman Singh runs straight into Shadloui's double thigh hold and is brought down in a flash. He was just not expecting that!

Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan on the other side and Mohit Goyat perishes! As soon as he goes deep, Gokulakannan M runs around and dashes him out.

U Mumba 30 - 30 Puneri Paltan

34' Guman Singh snaps up a bonus point. On the other side, Aslam Inamdar escapes from Bittu's attempted back hold and escapes. He was very late on the tackle.

Guman Singh responds with another bonus point in front of Gaurav Khatri.

32' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Pankaj Mohite perishes! Gokulakannan from the right corner gets a grip on Pankaj's thigh and pulls him back single-handedly.

Mukilan Shanmugan is in two minds about the dash on Mohit Goyat, who gets a slight touch and escapes.

24' Gaurav Khatri tries an ankle hold on Guman Singh, who drags himself to the mid-line. That brings up Guman's Super 10.

Sanket Sawant runs around with a solid dash and Guman Singh fails to use the lobby and escape as he is dashed out this time. U Mumba down to three men!

Mohit Goyat leaps over the right corner's attempted ankle hold and returns with a point. U Mumba down to two men now.

22' Guman Singh snaps up a bonus point in front of the right corner Gaurav Khatri.

Ekrami runs straight into Shadloui's double thigh hold and is pinned down in a flash. Ekrami tries jumping but it was a strong grip that the defender had.

Mohit Goyat flies through the air and gets a running hand touch on Surinder Singh in the right corner.

HALF TIME! Puneri Paltan 17 - 19 U Mumba

U Mumba have their noses ahead going into the second half, with a slender 2-point lead. U Mumba's defense has made all the difference today while Guman Singh has consistently picked up the raid points. It was the Puneri Paltan who had the initial lead but courtesy of a super raid, U Mumba reduced Pune to one man and eventually inflicted the all out. However, Aslam responded with a super raid of his own. Pune are certainly not going to back down from this contest. It has all the makings of a humdinger. Which side will emerge on top? 20' Guman Singh picks up a bonus point and Sanket Sawant runs around for a dash. However, Guman uses the lobby and returns.

On the other side, Gokulakannan tries a block on Pankaj Mohite, who backtracks and returns in a flash.

Bittu goes in for a double thigh hold all by himself. Aslam tumbles and drags himself back to the mid-line. No support at all.

Puneri Paltan 17 - 19 U Mumba

18' SUPER RAID! Aslam pulling things back! Picks up a bonus point after which he escapes from Bittu's ankle hold. Gets Mukilan on the way back too!

Ekrami, on the other side, gets a running hand touch on Shadloui, who visits the bench once again.

16' ALL OUT! Gaurav Khatri is allowed the bonus point as the defense stands back. He runs straight into the double thigh hold of the right cover Gokulakannan M and is tackled! U Mumba in the lead!

Guman Singh runs around and gets in a running hand touch on Shadloui in the left corner.

16' Bittu and Gokulkannan run around with a block and the duo get a hold on Mohit Goyat and dash him out.

Wow! Guman Singh has done it! As soon as he ventures deep, Sanket Sawant, Abinesh and Aslam run around for a dash. However, Guman powers his way back to the mid-line. He has crossed the mid-line while Sanket Sawant has also gone past the mid-line. SUPER RAID! Three points to U Mumba! However, Puneri Paltan review! They want the raider to be out. Guman's foot is in the lobby while he crosses the mid-line. Review unsuccessful! Three points to Guman!

14' Mukilan runs around from the left corner and puts in a back hold on Mohit Goyat, who drags himself back to the mid-line.

Shadloui runs around for a dash but Guman Singh uses the lobby and escapes in a flash.

Puneri Paltan 10 - 8 U Mumba

12' Shadloui's speed forces Visvanth to slip while backtracking and go out of bounds. Oh dear! U Mumba cannot afford this.

Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and in a surprising move, Surinder Singh has come in for it! How was there no substitute? But wait, Surinder Singh strikes! He runs across and gets a hand touch on Pankaj Mohite in the right-in position.

Puneri Paltan 9 - 7 U Mumba

10' Ekrami runs around for a running hand touch on Shadloui and immediately after, Sanket Sawant runs around and dashes him out.

Puneri Paltan 8 - 6 U Mumba

8' Pankaj Mohite is dash out as Mukilan Shanmugan runs around and sends him spiralling out.

Guman Singh is tackled! Shadloui runs around with a chain and puts in a very very advance tackle. Guman tries the dubki but they keep him just inches away from the mid-line.

As soon as Aslam tries a toe-touch, Gokulakannan from the left-in position puts in a diving thigh hold to bring him down.

Puneri Paltan 7 - 6 U Mumba

6' Do-or-die raid for the Puneri Paltan and Mohit Goyat perishes! The left-in player tries an ankle hold while Bittu and Surinder run around and dash him out. However, Bittu has gone out as well for a brief moment. One point to each side.

Do-or-die raid for U Mumba on the other side and Ekrami strikes! Gaurav Khatri's ankle hold is to no avail as Ekrami escapes in a flash.

Puneri Paltan 6 - 4 U Mumba

4' Mohit Goyat tries a jump but Gokulakannan from the centre position puts in a double thigh hold and brings him down.

Guman Singh, on the other side, is tackled as well as Shadloui stands tall with a block while the rest of the defense pounces on him. Sanket going for the thighs there and he will get the point as he made first contact.

As soon as Visvanth tries a bonus point, a solid ankle hold from Gaurav Khatri brings him down.

Puneri Paltan 5 - 2 U Mumba

2' Aslam Inamdar starts off with a bonus point in front of the right corner. Guman Singh responds with a bonus of his own in front of the right corner.

Bittu tries an advance tackle but Aslam was already on his way back. Pushes him aside and returns. On the other side, Heirdarali Ekrami is tackled! Sanket Sawant runs around with a block and dashes him out.

Puneri Paltan 3 - 1 U Mumba

Right, no Girish Ernak, no Rinku, no Mahender Singh for U Mumba. They are once again going in with only two raiders, with one of them being Ekrami instead of Zafardanesh. Visvanth as the third raiding option but that might end up hurting them as he's tasked with playing the left corner too. 

Puneri Paltan, on the other hand, are as powerful as ever and are going in with their first-choice seven. They will certainly be starting as favourites.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. We are back for the second Maharashtrian derby of the season as U Mumba lock horns with Puneri Paltan at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad. 

Puneri Paltan have absolutely obliterated any opposition that had stood in their path. They have a powerful, well-rounded unit that refuses to back down and are one of the most aggressive sides of PKL. Their campaign has reflected the sheer determination and belief that they come onto the mat with and will already be having their eyes on the trophy surely. Aslam Inamdar, Mohit Goyat in raiding and Shadloui in defense has terrorised opponents and they will be hoping to continue with the same in this encounter. 

U Mumba, on the other hand, have hit turbulent weather after making an impressive start to their tournament. It's been five matches since they have tasted success and will be hungry not just for a win but also for the crucial five points that they desperately need. And for that, they will need a much, much better performance from their defense. U Mumba are surprisingly the best raiding unit in the tournament but the defense has severely let them down. 

Guman Singh has been a revelation this season while Amirmohammad Zafardanesh, if fit, will want to get back to scoring Super 10s. U Mumba have failed to inflict all outs after bringing the opposition down to three and two defenders. If they can manage to inflict all outs while also putting up a decent defensive performance, they can get one over the juggernauts that they are facing today. They were absolutely thrashed by the Puneri Paltan in the reverse-fixture and will be hungry for revenge.
