FULL TIME! U.P. Yoddhas 39 - 23 U Mumba

A poor performance from U Mumba on the day they perhaps would've wanted to settle for nothing but a win. Credit to the UP Yoddhas, they came out all guns blazing right from the start and ensured that they gave U Mumba absolutely no opportunity to make a comeback into this contest. Plenty of changes in the U Mumba line-up and they certainly did not end up working once again. As for the Yoddhas, their defense was on song today and did the bulk of the damage, while their young raiding sensations in Anil Kumar and Gagan Gowda inflicted some hefty blows. A comprehensive performance from the Yoddhas and they will be pleased with their performance. 

40' Birthday boy Saurav Parthe puts in a scorpion kick on Nitesh and returns with a point. A running hand touch from Gagan Gowda sends back Shivansh Thakur.

Ashu runs around with a solid dash on Saurav Parthe and the rest of the defenders pull him back with absolute disdain. Just centimetres ahead of the mid-line.

Another audacious tackle here and Alireza is brought down! Ashu with a block while Harendra pounces at his legs. A double thigh hold and a block brings him down very close to the mid-line!

U.P. Yoddhas 39 - 23 U Mumba

38' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Shivam strikes! Runs around and picks up a running hand touch on Nitesh before flying through the lobby to return. Well, turns out even Shivam ended up going out of bounds in that. One point to each side.

A diving double ankle hold from Girish Ernak and Gagan Gowda is pinned down. On the other side, Alireza is tackled as an ankle hold from Sumit brings him down. Ashu, who had come for assistance, also has to return.

Shivam is brought down now as a double ankle hold from the centre defender combined with both corners running around and coming for assistance brings him down.

U.P. Yoddhas 36 - 22 U Mumba

34' A point awarded to Zafardanesh as he uses the lobby and crosses the mid-line, with one of the defenders running around for a dash. UP Yoddhas review! They believe that Zafar was out of bounds but he crossed the mid-line from inside the lobby.

Do-or-die raid for the Yoddhas and Gagan Gowda picks up a bonus in front of the left corner. Relies on it and returns. Gagan returns with another point as he escapes from Zafardanesh's ankle hold and returns.

U.P. Yoddhas 33 - 19 U Mumba

32' ALL OUT! One of the U Mumba defenders ends up stepping out of bounds, making it effectively a surrender raid for Anil, who returns after cleaning house. A huge lead now for the Yoddhas!

A stellar ankle hold from Sumit from the left corner and Shivam fails to return as there is assistance from the covers.

Sumit with another terrific ankle hold and this time, it is Alireza Mirzaeian who is brought down, courtesy of instant support from the covers once again.

U.P. Yoddhas 31 - 18 U Mumba

TIMEOUT! 

30' Shivansh Thakur ends up stepping out of bounds and ends up gifting a point to the Yoddhas.

On the other side, a diving thigh hold from Nitesh brings down Shivam. U Mumba have only two left on the mat now.

U.P. Yoddhas 25 - 18 U Mumba

28' A running hand touch from Shivam on Ashu keeps the points ticking for U Mumba.

The left corner tries an ankle hold but Gagan Gowda escapes. On the other side, Shivam escapes from Sumit's back hold and returns.

U.P. Yoddhas 23 - 18 U Mumba

26' As soon as Gagan Gowda tries a kick on the left corner, the chain of Zafar and Shivansh Thakur from the right corner run around and trap him in the chain.

Anil, from the centre position, puts in a surprise double thigh hold which stuns and immobilises Ekrami.

Mahipal goes deep and tries a touch on Shivansh in the right corner. Girish Ernak runs around with a dash but Mahipal uses the lobby to escape.

U.P. Yoddhas 22 - 16 U Mumba

24' SUPER TACKLE! A diving double ankle hold from Mahender and there is immediate assistance from Zafardanesh, who gets a grip on the raider's back and pulls him back. Oh what a terrific tackle!

Mahender with another double ankle hold which brings down the raider but wait! Mahender had stepped into the lobby before making the contact with the defender. Big moment!

Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Shivam strikes! A running hand touch on the right cover and Shivam fetches himself a point.

U.P. Yoddhas 20 - 15 U Mumba

22' Anil absolutely bulldozes through the left corner's attempted block and returns in a flash. Shivam, on the other side, picks up a bonus in front of the left corner.

U.P. Yoddhas 19 - 12 U Mumba

HALF TIME! U Mumba 11 - 18 U.P. Yoddhas

A commanding performance from the Yoddhas in the final few minutes of the half has seen them take the lead here. It was neck-and-neck for the majority of the contest as both sides gave absolutely nothing away. However, UP Yoddhas, on the back of their young and spritely raiders, ensured that they inflicted the all out and added a few more points to their tally going into the half time. U Mumba have not done too well with comebacks this season and they are dearly missing the services of Guman. Will the Yoddhas race away to a win or will U Mumba script a comeback? Stick around to find out!

20' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Ekrami perishes! As soon as he tries the bonus point, a solid ankle hold from Nitesh Kumar brings him down.

U Mumba 11 - 18 U.P. Yoddhas

18' ALL OUT! A bonus picked by Shivansh Thakur following which, an ankle hold from Nitesh brings Shivansh down. Momentum in the Yoddhas' favour!

Gagan Gowda shoves aside the incoming Shivansh Thakur and returns in a flash. Gagan with another point as a kick on Girish Ernak fetches him another point. U Mumba are losing the plot here.

U Mumba 11 - 17 U.P. Yoddhas

16' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Ekrami perishes! Sumit runs around with a dash but Ekrami shoves him aside and tries to escape but an ankle hold from Nitesh pulls him back.

Do-or-die raid for UP Yoddhas and a toe-touch from Gagan Gowda gets the better of Girish Ernak! On the other side, an ankle hold on Zafardanesh brings him down.

Anil Kumar escapes from an attempted dash by Visvanth and reduces U Mumba down to one man.

U Mumba 10 - 12 U.P. Yoddhas

14' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Heidarali Ekrami has been substituted in for it. He tries a bonus in front of Nitesh following which he gets a running hand touch on Harendra Kumar in the left cover.

Do-or-die raid for UP Yoddhas on the other side and Anil sees Shivansh running around for a block. Steps into the lobby before Shivansh's block hits him and the raider will be deemed as self out.

U Mumba 9 - 8 U.P. Yoddhas

12' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Pranay Rane is pulled back just inches away from the mid-line! A diving double ankle hold from Sumit and assistance from Nitesh does not allow Pranay Rane to cross the mid-line.

Anil Kumar is substituted in and he strikes instantly! A dash attempted by the right corner but Anil uses the lobby and returns. U Mumba down to three men once again.

U Mumba 7 - 8 U.P. Yoddhas

TIMEOUT! 

10' Do-or-die raid for U Mumba and Visvanth V comes in for it. And he perishes! Sumit's hefty double thigh brings Visvanth down!

Do-or-die raid for UP Yoddhas and Pardeep Narwal perishes! SUPER TACKLE! The defenders run around to surround him and he fails to escape. He is pushed out of bounds in the end.

Mahipal picks up pace and tries a touch but fails to make any contact before going into the lobby. A self-out.

U Mumba 7 - 6 U.P. Yoddhas

8' Mahipal picks up pace and gets a touch on Zafardanesh by suddenly turning around and putting in a reverse-toe-touch.

U Mumba 4 - 5 U.P. Yoddhas

6' Do-or-die raid for UP Yoddhas and Mahipal strikes! An advance dash by Mahender but Mahipal uses the lobby and returns.

Pranay Rane runs straight into the right corner Nitesh Kumar's double thigh hold and Pranay is completely immobilised.

U Mumba 4 - 4 U.P. Yoddhas

4' A reverse-toe-touch by Zafardanesh and he sends back the left corner defender. Girish Ernak with a point on his return now as an advance double ankle hold on Gagan Gowda tackles him.

Zafardanesh ends up stepping into the lobby without a touch as the defenders feign a dash but do not come for it. A running hand touch from Visvanth V and ge sends back Harendra Kumar from the left corner position.

U Mumba 4 - 2 U.P. Yoddhas

2' Sumit with a terrific double thigh hold and Visvanth V runs straight into it. UP are off the mark!

On the other side, Pardeep Narwal perishes to a double thigh hold of U Mumba's skipper Mahender Singh in the left cover.

U Mumba 1 - 1 U.P. Yoddhas

Right, big changes as far as U Mumba are concerned. An injured Zafardanesh being their lead raider. Pranay Rane being included is a great addition. However, Guman's absence will hurt them. Girish Ernak and Mahender Singh making a return. 

Meanwhile, Pardeep's 100th match as captain will see a pretty expected side taking the mat. Not too much to lose for them.

Hello and welcome to Sportskeeda's live coverage of the Pro Kabaddi League, 2023. We are on the cusp of the completion of the league stages and the fight for the playoffs is as intense as ever. Two teams still eyeing a playoffs spot will be locking horns today - U Mumba and UP Yoddhas at Delhi. 

Currently placed eleventh, UP Yoddhas haven't had the best of seasons. Their playoffs hopes hang by a small thread and it is highly unlikely that they will go through to the playoffs. However, even with a mathematical chance, they will continue to keep hope and perhaps try to play their best for their fans. The Yoddhas have only three wins to show from their 16 games and that sums up their campaign pretty much. It will be interesting to see how they go about their business today.

U Mumba, on the other hand, lost steam after a terrific start to the tournament. New Mumba promised and performed above their potential, which led to fans and kabaddi pundits having some high hopes from the team. However, ever since their home leg came around, they have been a mere shadow of themselves. Having lost some momentum, U Mumba will be desperate for some wins to move up in the points table. They will need to play an aggressive brand of kabaddi and will start off as favourites in this contest.
