19:39 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay needs to refocus here right now as the match is now slipping away from his grip. He trails 12-17.

19:38 (IST)16 OCT 2016

And the top seed maintains the 2-point lead for 12-14. But a double fault has been called Wang gets another point for 15-12.

19:37 (IST)16 OCT 2016

19:31 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Wang is too fast and Ajay can do nothing. The second seed is at 10-5.

19:30 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay is on fire now as he continues to make a comeback in the third game. Some extra pace and power are surely helping him now. He trails 5-8 now

19:28 (IST)16 OCT 2016

The points are very fast now. Ajay has cut down the lead to 3-6 now.

19:27 (IST)16 OCT 2016

A fistpump celebration from the Indian who stops the Wang charge to make it 1-4 before conceding 2 more points to fall behind 1-6.

19:26 (IST)16 OCT 2016

This is just like the first game. Wang has stormed out of the blocks to 4-0

19:25 (IST)16 OCT 2016

2 crucial errors from the top seed and Jayaram now trails Wang 0-2

19:24 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Can Ajay continue with that attitude in the final game?

19:22 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay reaches game point at 20-17 and quickly shuts it, 21-17. We are all square now.

19:21 (IST)16 OCT 2016

And the Jayaram jumps smashes are making some noise! Ajay soars to 19-16.

19:20 (IST)16 OCT 2016

This is getting tighter. Ajay's huge lead has vanished and is now ahead by only 17-15.

19:19 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Though Ajay cannot be complacent. Wang is a quality player and has already begun to reduce the gap to 14-17.

19:18 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay is clearly in the driver's seat now. There is a spring in his steps now and the hunger is back. He is now at 17-11.

19:16 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Wang looks shaken and somewhat dispirited. The accuracy in his game has gone missing. Jayaram has now built a solid lead of 15-10.

19:13 (IST)16 OCT 2016

19:06 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Time is running out for the top seed!

19:05 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay is showing some of his fiery aggression but he is also undoing the good work through his errors. Wang is now ahead 4-2.

19:04 (IST)16 OCT 2016

That's quite a tame surrender from the two-time defending champion. The spark is absolutely missing from his game. He needs a quick turnaround to have any chance of doing the hattrick.

19:02 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Wang did not have to wait long to convert his game point. He does it on his first chance and takes the opener, 21-10.

19:01 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay tried to add his deft touch at the net and slow down Wang. In the end, he made a mistake and the point goes to Wang again. The second seed is looking more and more confident and is now at 20-10.

18:59 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Ajay is looking slightly slow and a bit jaded too. Is it because of the long semi-final he played yesterday? He is trying his best to close the gap but currently his opponent's level is too high and he refuses to make many mistakes. Wang now leads 16-9.

18:57 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Wang has now built an 8-point lead as he jumps to 14-6.

18:55 (IST)16 OCT 2016

An angular smash deep into the corner of the court and Wang leads 10-4. He builds on it further to race to 11-5 at the interval.

18:53 (IST)16 OCT 2016

A few errors are creeping up into Ajay's game and he let Wang extend the lead to 9-4.

18:53 (IST)16 OCT 2016

The top seed is finally beginning to find open spaces in the court and trying to move the Chinese Taipei shuttler all over the court. Slowly and steadily, Ajay is getting back into it and trails 4-6.

18:51 (IST)16 OCT 2016

The points are very fast. Jayaram initially struggling to counter Wang's pace and is currently trailing 1-5.

18:50 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Wang has come prepared. He is aggressive right from the beginning and has raced to a 4-0 lead.

18:46 (IST)16 OCT 2016

The players have just arrived on the court and are warming up.

18:25 (IST)16 OCT 2016

The preceding women's doubles match has gone the distance so there is still some more time to go for this match.

18:21 (IST)16 OCT 2016

Good evening and welcome to the Sportskeeda liveblog of the Dutch Open final. The Dutch Open Grand Prix tournament continues to be a happy hunting ground for Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram. The World No. 20 won it the last two years and is seeking a hattrick this year. Not only that, even in 2010, he had reached the final of this event where he finished as the runner-up.

This time he is the top seed and the obvious favourite to win the title. He faces the second seeded Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei, who is currently ranked 33rd. Jayaram leads their head-to-head meetings, 2-0 with his most recent win over Wang coming at the Swiss Open in March last year.
