That brings us to the end of India's Boxing bout in the Men's Middleweight (75 kg) category. Unfortunately, Ashish Kumar has crashed out of Olympics 2020.

It was a great fight on display, but it was Erbieke Tuoheta from China who eventually prevailed. He will now move to the round of 16.

Even though Ashish Kumar gave it his all, Erbieke Tuoheta was extremely accurate with his punches and blocks.

The referee officially declares Erbieke Tuoheta from China as the winner as we come to the end of this bout.

What is a knockout in boxing?

A knockout is when a pugilist lands enough lethal (& legal) punches on their opponent to knock them down and the opponent is not able to stand up inside a count of 10 by the referee. In this case, the bout ends immediately irrespective of the previous scores.

For the uninitiated, a boxing game consists of 3 rounds of 3 minutes each. Each round is separated by a 1-minute break. Points are awarded by a panel of 5 judges on the basis of the number of blows, technique, dominance, and tactical superiority.

Ashish Kumar will be up against Chinese boxer, Erbieke Tuoheta.

After Indian boxers, Vikas Krishan and Manish Kaushik crashed out of the Tokyo Olympics, all hopes are now on Ashish Kumar to deliver some stellar performances for team India.

The 27-year old has been in fine touch as of late and won a Silver Medal for India at the 2019 Asian Championships.
