Asian Games 2018: Athletics Day 12 Live Score - Jinson Johnson takes 1500m GOLD; India win Women's 4x400m Gold, take Men's 4x400m Silver

India were in contention for a medal in seven events in athletics on day 12. After starting with a Bronze medal in both Discus Throw and Women's 1500m, Jinson Johnson took GOLD in the Men's 1500m, which was followed by the Indian women claiming GOLD in the 4x400m relay and the men ended the day with SILVER in the 4x400m.

Qatar set a new Asian Record but an excellent run from India gives them SILVER.

And it is all over, QATAR take GOLD. India walk away with SILVER and Japan take Bronze.

Qatar are running away with the GOLD but India are in contention for at least silver going into the final leg.

So far so good for Qatar and they have already built a massive lead. And at the end of the second changeover, India are second.

At the end of the first lap, Qatar's Samba leads the way, Sri Lanka are second, India and Japan are tussling for third spot.

And we are about to go get underway in the Men's 4x400m relay. Samba goes first for Qatar, Puthanpurakkal will go first for India and Julian Walsh will be first for Japan and Bahrain's Musa Isah will go first for them. Those four are the contenders for the three medals.

This will be the Indian quartet in the Men's 4x400m relay

All the athletes are just getting ready for the final event of the day. The grand finale is about to get underway.

Next up is the men's 4x400m relay. Can they follow up what the women did? Or at least pick up another medal?

The move to start with Hima Das paid off for India as the lead that was given her was what helped India towards the end. And with that India win their seventh GOLD in Athletics of the Asian Games 2018.

India hang on. INDIA TAKE GOLD in the WOMEN'S 4x400m relay.

And we are off, unsurprisingly India take the lead after the first 400m. She successfully passes the baton.

And we are underway in the 4x400m relay and it will be Hima Das, India's best runner who will start.

No medal for India in the 5000m but they will be looking to add to their tally in the Women's 4x400m relay, which is the penultimate event of the day on the track.

Here are the final standings.

Iran take fourth spot and after a late burst to the finish Yaser Bagharab of Qatar finishes fifth while India's L Govindan takes sixth.

It is one two for Bahrain. Birhanu Balew, who has been the fastest man in the world, takes GOLD, Albert Rop takes SILVER and Saudi Arabia's Tariq Ahmed Alamri takes BRONZE.

Almost instantly the Bahrain duo have lost the Saudi Arabian. Now it is Bahrain for GOLD and SILVER. But who will get gold?

Saudi Arabia's Alamry is still keeping pace with the top two.

The two Bahrain runners continue to pull away at the top and they leave another one behind. Now the lead pack is just three.

The leading pack of four have upped the ante and are pulling away from the pack.

With four laps left in this race, India are looking unlikely to get a medal as Govindan slips to sixth.

The field is spread wide open and L Govindan has fallen away from the leading pack of six, which now becomes four with five laps to go.

Now we are into the second half of the race. Six laps to go now and the two runners from Bahrain are still leading the way.

Govindan is a part of the leading pack of six athletes, which is led by the two Bahraini runners.

With nine laps left to go, Bahrain are in first and second. India's L Govindan is in fifth place right now.

First up is the Men's 5000m, which has just got underway.

It has already been a great day so far for India in Athletics. There are three more events left.
