The sport has shown major improvements. It has got two medals at the Asian Games for the first time. To get a medal in a field that is loaded with Asian table tennis giants is a commendable effort.

Here's hoping the sport's growth curve remains on the upward trajectory after some impressive displays at the Commonwealth Games, the World Championship and now the Asian Games.

We also hope that table tennis manages to fetch more medals four years later at the next Asian Games.

The Indians had tough opponents in the Round of 16. Both Batra and Achanta were underdogs in their respective matches.

But it is great to see them take games off their formidable opponents and make them work hard for the win.

Achanta, especially, was very close in his match against the World No. 14.
