Shooting has been one of the sports where India have gained its most medals. Out of the total 10 medals that India have won as of yet, six have come from shooting -- one gold, three silvers, and two bronze.
Teenaged sensation Saurabh Chaudhari was the talk of the town, after he upset all the odds to finish top of the pile in the Men's 10m Air Pistol event, yesterday. While Japan took the silver, yet another Indian, Abhishek Verma, completed the podium with a bronze medal.
Deepak Kumar, Sanjeev Rajput and Lakshay Sheoran notched up silver medals in the Men's 10m Air Rifle, Men's 50m Rifle 3 Positions and the Men's Trap events, respectively, while Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar won bronze at the Mixed 10m Air Rifle event.
Grapplers Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat also made major contributions to India's Medal Tally, winning a gold each in the Men's 65kg and Women's 50kg freestyle wrestling events, while Divya Kakran won bronze at the 68kg Women's Freestyle event.
However, the biggest surprise perhaps, came from sepak takraw, as India notched up its first ever medal in the sport, winning a bronze in the Men's Regu event.
