Silver! Indian #hockey teams will return from #AsianGames2018 without gold.
— Jaspreet Sahni (@JaspreetSSahni) August 31, 2018
The women lose the final to Japan 1-2.
Still a plus for them, though. First silver since 1998. But gold continues to elude after 1982.
Over to India men now, who play Pakistan tomorrow for bronze.

#AsianGames2018 #INDvJPN In an absolutely hard-fought close contest, valiant #India go down to deserving winner #Japan in Women’s #HockeyFinal. Well played girls, although missing #Gold Medal 🥇 in both Men’s & Women’s #Hockey events is disappointing. @TheHockeyIndia #AsianGames

Japan was superior, full marks to them. Fewer mistakes, and always had numbers in the defence. All that and just 1 penalty corner conceded. The only sore point? India are ranked 4 places above Japan and that way this is indeed an "upset". #AsianGames2018 #hockey

Alas, gold medal proves elusive for Indian women hockey team. Much deserved win for Japan, aggressive and sturdy. Japan play the men’s final v Malaysia tomorrow while India and Pakistan vie from bronze. Asian hockey’s gone topsy turvy!
