That was quite a comfortable outing for the Spaniard. He wasn't exactly very sharp as the score suggests but he was definitely good enough to lift his game on the crucial points and get an easy win.
World No. 1 Rafael Nadal is all set to take on Bosnian Damir Dzumhur to begin the night session of Day 5. It is somewhat of a surprise to see last year’s runner-up on Margaret Court Arena although it’s hard to say that the match is deserving of Rod Laver Arena.
Coming to the match, Dzumhur has been showing vast improvement in the last few years and is currently at a career-high ranking of 30. In the first round, he survived a scare against Paolo Lorenzi but in the second, he had it slightly easier, beating local favourite John Millman in four sets.
Nadal, on the other hand, has been in red-hot form, as one would expect. After securing a routine first round victory, he served his way past Leonardo Mayer in the second round in straight sets.
The only meeting between Nadal and Dzumhur in 2016 at Miami ended with the Spaniard retiring at 0-3. But, of course, high intensity is always what one expects from Nadal and he should have no issues in making it to the next round today.
