09:05 (GMT)20 JAN 2018

Good afternoon and welcome to the Sportskeeda liveblog of Day 6 of the 2018 Australian Open. We shall bring you live updates from Roger Federer's third round match against Richard Gasquet.

While Federer is seeded second and is the defending champion, Gasquet is seeded 29th. Federer's mastery over the Frenchman is well-known with the Swiss having a whopping 16-2 head-to-head record over the Frenchman.

It is expected to be another win for the 19-time Grand Slam champion tonight. He has been in good form so far at this tournament. Even though he did have a few hiccups on serve, he has managed to raise his level under pressure and win both his matches in straight sets.

His biggest test so far has been in the second round where he was taken to the tie-break in the third set by Jan-Lennard Struff.

Gasquet too has been impressive and hasn't dropped a set so far. His only competitive set so far was in the first round itself where Blaz Kavcic stretched him to 7-5 in third set.

Gasquet has the experience and can make it competitive for the maestro for a while. But the Swiss should manage to put him aside and march to R4.
