Courier asks Rafa if he will watch the Federer-Wawrinka semi-final tomorrow. "Before all else, I love the sport," he says, "and if you do not watch this match you have nothing to love for the sport."
"I am not an arrogant guy, so I always have doubts," Nadal tells Jim Courier. "I look forward to playing Grigor [Dimitrov], I know he had a tough year."
Nadal's returns are getting deeper, stronger, and more powerful as we go on. The energy levels are neither dipping nor rising here, but shot placement is great.
Nadal almost breaks, but that's a massive serve from Raonic and Nadal can't guide it back in. Subsequent shots go wide and quickly, it's game Raonic. There hasn't been a break of serve since the first set.
Pure fire in Nadal's eyes right now and he runs to the net and SMASHES that one right down! Then he seals it off with a forehand winner to take the lead in the third.
We're at 3-3 in the tiebreak and Raonic is running around - making Rafa do just that! He produces a brilliant shot and Nadal slides to make it - the next one, he misses. And it's Raonic with the mini-break.
He's returning much better now is Milos Raonic, and he's got a good rhythm going. A challenge goes his way and some of his volleys are absolutely great. Nadal getting a little tense here perhaps?
Mammoth shots from both players here and Nadal's returning well. Raonic pummels a forehand in and there's ever the delicate touch from the Spaniard, with what seems to be just the right amount of force.
Couple of elementary errors for Nadal = a quick hold for Milos Raonic here. But the Canadian can't reach at one of Rafa's forehands, and the Spaniard's back in the driver's seat.
It may be Nadal's service game, but boy oh boy is Raonic looking for a fight! Those huge serves come with some great depth...and with great depth comes great responsibility...er, sorry.., points.
Nadal's winner to unforced error is incredibly strong, at 12 to 2 - Raonic has more winners at 16, but has committed 10 unforced errors so far - 3 in the first game alone.
Raonic keeps this alive with a couple of well-timed, well-placed aces. Three in that service game. Nadal now serves for the set. And he's meditating regularly and silently.
