Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, 17-year old Indian doubles sensation is in the running for the BWF Most Promising Player of the Year for his rise into the top 30 of the Men’s Doubles World rankings.
Srikanth Kidambi who has had a phenomenal year and risen to World No.4 thanks to four Super Series titles will be in contention for the Player of the Year award against World Champion Viktor Axelsen, the World No.1 Men’s Doubles pair of Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo, and the top-ranked mixed doubles player, Zheng Siwei.
This year, the 22-year-old Indian, who won two Superseries titles and grabbed the silver medal at the BWF World Championships, will be contending for the Female Player of the Year with the likes of the World No. 1 Tai Tzu Ying.
Srikanth Kidambi and PV Sindhu are in contention for the ‘Player of the Year 2017’ awards while the 17-year-old doubles sensation, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will be vying for the ‘Most Promising Player of the Year’ award.
Indian shuttlers make their presence felt in all categories as Kidambi Srikanth, P.V. Sindhu and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy have all been nominated in the three major categories.

With the Dubai Super Series Finals looming large on the horizon, the BWF Awards Gala ceremony is all set to get underway in Dubai, in the presence of star shuttlers from all around the world.
India has three representatives in the awards, with the likes of PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy getting nominations across different categories. While Sindhu and Srikanth have been nominated for the women’s and men’s Player of the Year categories, Satwiksairaj has gotten the same for the Most Promising Player of the Year category.
